State officials say a New Jersey man and his adult son were wounded in a pheasant hunting accident this weekend, then shot a second time while they were discussing the first mishap with authorities
Both shootings occurred Saturday morning in the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management area in Jackson. The first shooting involved a single hunter who fled the scene, while the second involved a group of other hunters.
The victims — identified only as two Jackson residents, ages 60 and 34 — each had pellet wounds to their face and hands, but the injuries were not considered serious.
A state wildlife conservation officer was also hit during the second shooting, but did not require medical treatment.

I was shot hunting quail in the mountains surrounded by this brush. At least I knew the shooter. Spent many, many hours at the hospital being plucked, then a quick overnite stay. BTW, I was wearing a orange vest.

I used to hunt pheasant, but I had to give it up when I got older and could no longer throw the dogs high enough....
while hunting pheasants with my father years ago.....probably around 1978 in rural Allegan, MI; 5 kids my grandfather let onto his property to “hunt” opened fire on us from about 75 yards away while we were pushing birds in the corn. My father, having an instant viet nam flashback, returned fire on the people and ordered me to cover him as he charged the youths, forced them to drop their guns, and then proceeded to kick their asses. Dick Cheney was a whoops......these kids were idiots.
