Donald Trump looks into canceling GOP debate he's set to host

With the wheels coming off the GOP debate he is supposed to host, Donald Trump admitted Friday that he’s looking into canceling the sparsely-attended forum.

But Trump, in a typical display of chutzpah, said there’s another reason why he might pull the plug - he still may run for President.

“If the Republican, in my opinion, is not the right candidate [to defeat President Obama\],” Trump declared, “I am unwilling to give up my right to run as an independent candidate.”

The Donald had blamed TV equal-time provisions that prohibited him from simultaneously running for President and hosting NBC’s “The Apprentice” until the show’s May season finale for bowing out of the race.

Which is more important to Trump...a stupid television show or running a 3rd party campaign? Every candidate should just say "No".

Newt is somewhere breathing a sigh of relief that this Trumped up debate reality show is falling apart.

Me? I can’t decide if the Bumper Stickers will say...

Gingrich/Trump

or

Trump/Gingrich.

Both are phony slick hucksters.

"I'm Fired!!!"

Oh man! what an ass this guy is.

Now he is stabbing Bachmann in the back and shoveling dirt on her because she won't participate.

Well, I think the cat is out of the bag. He’s not running now because the network would have to give equal time to his competitors. He’s clearly going to run after May. No doubt in my mind.

And here’s the other sad part, there are enough idiots on this forum alone who will vote for the guy just to spite their face.

I would love to see him run again if just to hear him mouth off about our first foreign born POTUS Barry Soetoro. Trump confirmed the putz wasn’t born here when Soetoro put out that fake multi-layered birth certificate.

Trump/Gingrich. Both are phony slick hucksters.

Concerning Newt Gingrich, you may reconsider after reading this post by Jim Robinson. The boss makes some superb points that may cause you to re-think your opinion of Newt Gingrich. It certainly was a real eye-opener for me.

I love The Donald. He's a brash billionaire but he loves the USA and he has a couple of great ideas. He also isn't a chicken sh!t when it comes to slamming Obama.

He is a superb asset to our party.

His idea of sending 10 killer businessmen to China to kick their ass is fantastic and I hope when Rick Perry is President he will put Trump on that team. American businessmen looking out for our interests.

That said Trump's debate was way too close to the Iowa caucus and doesn't help anyone when they should be campaigning and meeting the folks.

Bottom line. Jim has his opinions. I have mine. And so why should I change my mind????

Oh, yea? Wasn't it Trump who blindly accepted that phony "birth certificate"? He sure quickly backed down when the Obama machine "produced" a "b.c.". What a wimp!

Sure Trump is mad at Bachmann now. Why Bachmann more so than the other non-participants?
From the article:

“Their decision to skip the event has damaged Trump’s reputation as a GOP kingmaker - and it was Michele Bachmann’s refusal that appeared to wound The Donald most of all.

“She came up to see me four times,” Trump said. “She would call me and ask me for advice. She said if she wins, she would like to think about me for the Vice Presidency.”

But while Trump slammed the Minnesota Congresswoman for her lack of “loyalty,” he heaped praise on Gingrich, the new GOP frontrunner.

So, it looks to me like Bachmann just out-negotiated The Donald on this one. Rather than just slamming him like Paul and Huntsman did, she used pure logic in her explanation - she said Trump has said he is already strongly leaning toward one of the candidates, but he won’t say which one, so how could he be impartial with his debate?

She got no answer so she won’t participate. She Trumped him.

Trump is basically now saying that Bachmann was calling him all the time asking for advice and that she asked him to be her VP in a 2 hour phone call. He is saying all this stuff while acting jilted. I am not calling Trump a liar, but I will be first in line to call him an ass, and a detriment to the conservative cause.

Most of the candidates have realized that you associate with this jerk at your own peril.

*Trump! You're Fired!!!!*

I think his *outing* her was callous and dastardly.
What he says about her may be true and it reflects in Michelle but, trump is acting like a jilted lover.

Very unbecoming.
He should not be publicly airing these private conversations for spite.

Trump is a snake

He has always intended to run.

Well, if Palin goes to share pizza and chat, and Newt brings in Trump to pose for a Newt Ad in Iowa perhaps to lose the stigma of his ad with Pelosi[?], Hannity who is always talking Trump this and Trump that, says he is honored Trump is available to him while the rest of the media is still down in the lobby...both he and Newt then go to meet with Trump. Huntsman courted him early on [book],even when asked about VPs, Bachmann said she had him on list. Let's not leave out Rush who admires the guy and recently played golf and "talked" and always giggles when Trump takes on the MSM. So who is the person sought out by the Right for advice, strategy, favors, endorsements? Rove, meanwhile is seeing no invite to this Republican In Crowd Love Fest and he is expressing his dislike of Donald.

Trump does not shy from the media-he does not back down to any scrutiny and he is a smart guy-why else would they Need to be validated by him. He shook up Obama's BC controversy for so long that even Obama had to finally answer to Trump.

And that is just on the Right...

You mean by “outing” that Bachmann had come to see him four times, called for advice, and conditionally offered the VP slot in return for his endorsement?

I don’t think that would reflect badly on her. So what if she did? Sounds like a pretty good ticket that just might win if Trump had jumped on it early enough. But there comes a time when you have to go for it, or the time for it passes, and we are past that time in the process now. Trump has held out too long, the candidates know it, and now Trump realizes it. To his chagrin.

He has always intended to run.

Didn't you learn your lesson with Sarah Palin? She strung everyone out long enough to make money off the will she/won't she run routine, and Trump is doing the same thing. With Palin, the excuse was that "a title and a campaign is too shackle-y." With Trump, we already know his excuse will be that he'd have to drop his television show. It's nice that you still think one of these days Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the football, but believe me, it will get pulled away every time.
