Worked for years and saw doctors that never washed their hands..they just went from pt to pt..

I’ve had one step out of the restroom still zipping up.

Once, when I was in the hospital and not able to protest, the nurse dropped the needle on the floor, picked it up, and gave me the shot.

I make sure my patients see my wash my hands when I walk into a treatment room, then put on gloves. I had it drummed into me as a surgery resident. One of the major medical discoveries historically was that washing hands saved lives and decreased infection. No other discovery including antibiotics has lowered infection rates as much as this one. Amazing that something so basic still needs to be reinforced.
