Frances Martel, Mediaite: CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield got a bit of an unwelcome surprise this evening as an interview with who she thought was Gregory Porter, an American student recently arrested and released in Cairo, went awry. Porter described the fear of being arrested in a crowd in Tahrir Square, the happiness of hearing his mothers voice after his first phone call
and then thanked the North Shore Animal League and Baba Booeys monkey nuts.

That was good. CNN does their usual fine job of research!

She seemed to accept his thanks to Baba Booey’s monkey nuts.

I used to think Howard Stern fans were a-holes. Now I think they are cultural guerilla heroes.

I think I am officially old when I read something like this and wonder; “Why is this funny?”

I didn't find it particularly funny either, until I remembered that CNN's slogan is "The Most Trusted Name in News". Then I laughed.

Baba Booeys monkey nuts???
Is that a special term to Stern fans or just a term we should all understand?

It’s a nickname for Howard’s executive producer, Gary Dell’Abate. He has some big teeth. Called him baba booey for as long as I can remember. He looks like a monkey with big teeth.

Gee. Good thing CNN does lots of real professional-type research to fill in the background on stories it brings to its precious highly-credibles airwaves, or cable-waves, or whatever.
Not like those bloggers and forum-posters, who don't vet the stories they publish, and therefore run a risk that they might mislead the public.
