AP via MSNBC ^ | October 2011

A U.S. restaurant famous for cooking up giant hamburgers has outdone itself.

The Detroit News reports that Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar made a 338-pound (153-kilogram) "Absolutely Ridiculous Burger" on Thursday. A crowd gathered to salivate over the unveiling of the $2,000 menu item.

The sandwich packs 540,000 calories and takes 22 hours to cook. Manager Jason Jones says the burger, which has 15 pounds of lettuce, 30 pounds of bacon, 30 pounds of tomatoes and 36 pounds of cheese, comes with fries and a drink.

I find stunts like this pointless and a little disgusting. It’s not like anybody is going to bite into this giant burger. Hopefully they at least cut up the meat and use it for other menu items.

“has 15 pounds of lettuce, 30 pounds of bacon,....”

Too much lettuce, not enough bacon.

It looks like a tractor tire with stuff piled on top of it. I wonder if it tastes like a tire too.

What an idiotic waste of food. When I read the title, I pictured it as a 12 foot diameter burger that could be divided into edible squares and served to 400 people. The burger in the picture looks cute, but there is no way it can be sliced into servable slices without it falling apart.

That would have been cool, and then the food wouldn't have been wasted. It's hard to think about wasting all that meat...

It is disgusting. Poor cow that died for this stunt. Much like a stupid so called vegetarian I unfortunately know. She'd buy pepperoni every time it was served in the school cafeteria and then throw the pepperonis in the garbage because poor little piggies. Excuse me, it's not like she was going to glue them back together at the end of the year and bring piggy back to life. No, she disgraced the pig even more by dumping it in the garbage. And let's not even talk about the piggy juices seeping into her now “vegetarian” pizzas. She's also the one who ate pork 'n beans and liked the white cubes the best. Hellllo, like what part of the vegetable family does the first half of PORK 'n beans come from?

Probably is overdone.

But why don't you like tomatoes? Tomatoes are one of the most awesome vegetables on earth! They are awesome on burgers, great in pasta sauces and on pizza, wonderful in salsa and in ketchup, and delicious green-fried. What do you have against them? You're just bigoted against tomatoes, that's what you are. >:-(

I find stunts like this pointless and a little disgusting.

I do too from a standpoint that that amount of beef and vegetables could probably feed a village somewhere in this world

Too acidic and too wet on a burger.

Tomatoes might be good for tossing at the Occupy freaks, but
not so great on a burger. Like mayonnaise, they just don't belong.
