She was the White House intern who found fame for all the wrong reasons.

Now, 17 years later, Monica Lewinsky is still trying to play down her scandalous affair with then-President Bill Clinton.

She is single, her line of handbags failed to catch on and, according to the National Enquirer, is living the life of a near recluse.

Monica, 38, flits between homes in Los Angeles owned by her mother, her father and brother and an apartment in New York that is also owned by the Lewinsky family.

But her life is far from a social whirl of a-list parties and she is said to spend much of her time alone.

An insider told The Enquirer that Monica has given up her own place and moves between the two coasts trying to work out projects that may never get off the ground.

Her apparent goal...

The most powerful man in world has sex with an intern, lies under oath and gets away Scot free.

The intern still pays for the relationship.

Any manager, military officer or police officer would have been fired.

Yeah, I feel badly for her. She was way too young to understand the possibility of lifelong notoriety, and he did exploit her shamelessly.

It's really sad. She was a 21 year old...and naive (& stupid). He, no doubt lied his tail off, promised her 'things', told her she 'was the only one', that he was going to 'get a divorce' that he would 'love her forever' etc etc... and she believed it.

After all, he was the President of The United States of America

sad case.... but if Bill Clinton is still the ultimate man of her life then that could have a wee tiny bit with why she is not able to find new love.... it would be hard to overcome that legacy in any case but when she ‘knows’ that she’ll never move past that, and the (potential, new) guy knows it too, what hope is there?

Maybe she needs a PR job for the Clinton Foundation....

I don’t. SHe was young but she was an adult. Lots of adults make stupid mistakes and soem stick with you, and it’s not wrong they do.

Be more pissed that Clinton didn’t suffer more for it. Maybe that’s why you feel more bad for her than you should.

Forever in my mind and I’m sure many others: 1998 = “The year of Monica Lewinsky”.

How many of us dominated the news for an entire year, for doing so little?

I have trouble feeling sympathy for Ms. Lewinski.

She made some bad choices and is now facing the consequences.

There isn’t a self respecting man who would consider her as marriage material.

She should change her name. That is the first thing she should have done (imho) and then dropped out of sight for a few years. Instead, she tried to capitalize on her notoriety and it's back-fired on her.

For parents she provided a "teaching moment" for their teenage kids.

At times the Oval Office became Clinton’s pick-up truck with the Astroturf in the back.

The answers lie in her background (pre-Buba) imho. She was probably raised in a home that worshipped dimrats and not really taught the difference between right and wrong concerning relationships. You know...if it feels good...do it. Possibly a product of the Hippie Generation.
