You can die from a hernia?

Incarcerated hernia, no blood supply, necrotic bowel, peritonitis, death.

You can die from a hernia?

Yes, if it entails internal bleeding and is not detected, or if it is on a vital organ and again is not detected. Depending upon its location it can release toxic poisons (mostly acids) into other organs. But notice it is extremely rare. You can drown in three inches of water but that is also extremely rare. Generally there are other mitigating circumstances (as in the drowning) which lead to the death. In the drowning it would generally be because the person is completely knocked out and face down in the water.

A strangulated hernia can kill you.....if not treated.
