Yes, if it entails internal bleeding and is not detected, or if it is on a vital organ and again is not detected. Depending upon its location it can release toxic poisons (mostly acids) into other organs. But notice it is extremely rare. You can drown in three inches of water but that is also extremely rare. Generally there are other mitigating circumstances (as in the drowning) which lead to the death. In the drowning it would generally be because the person is completely knocked out and face down in the water.

Rather, they are when the intestine gets “caught” in the weakened spot of the hernia, gets strangled off by the muscle, loss of blood supply to the intestine, necrosis of the intestine, leakage of the intestinal contents (stool) into the sterile peritoneum, peritonitis, and then death.
