To do big business in China, to open up a factory you have to take on a “connected” Chinese 50% partner. He might be in the PLA or the son of a PLA general of Communist leader. And yes, your technology will be stolen and you will have a Chinese competitor within five years. The Chinese shear the capitalist sheep who aims for short term sales and profits in China
Why would it not be like this?
Your point is well taken. I’ve never looked that deeply at the specs and performance issues. Thank you. You’ve put a new light on all this.
My next door neighbor recently bought a Porsche 911 Turbo S. It is one hell of a machine (0-60 in less than three seconds). But does he use all that power? In case he does, I had a license plate frame made for him:
Warum gibt es eine Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung?
It looks funny. Perhaps a police officer would laugh instead of ticketing him.
Now, for Joe Student at the local Starbucks, do these the computer performance issues matter? Do you need an i7 chip for word processing and vector graphics?
Even with my Adobe InDesign, PS and Illustrator work my Fujitsu performed flawlessly. Its my Camry.
So, I’m looking at performance I don’t need, but would like, within an operating system that I am getting to like more and more. I like how Lion works and love the stability and quality of the machine. I’ll just have to forego my next Las Vegas vacation - or get damned lucky during it.
They make money because they make products that people want to buy and they don't mind paying for them.
I own a MacBook Pro, an Iphone and an IPad. While shopping for a newer MBP I’ve been amazed at the cost.
Swordmaker explained matters to me. Thanks.
Dennis, WHERE can they run a "ghost shift" on an assembly line that is run 24 hours a day 7 days a week... under direct supervision of Apple monitors, using parts inventoried BY APPLE??? That is why Apple is immune to this... they've locked it down to prevent that. Apple is in charge of the inventory... not FoxConn... it is NOT FoxConn's product. NOT FoxConn's inventory... NOT shut down... ever. Use your brain, Dennis. Apple KNOWS exactly how many screens are delivered to FoxConn... how many cases, how many batteries... etc. Where do the "Extra" parts come from? They know exactly how many iPads come out at the other end. So, exactly WHERE do these "extra" iPads that come out of your mythical "ghost run" come from?
Why would that apply to Apple? Apple is not a partner of FoxConn. They contract with a company to manufacture the product. They don't own it.
This gives FoxConn even more incentive to steal Apple blind as far as technology. If Apple is so leading edge then the Chinese are stealing it. You can take that to the bank. Every foreigner getting things made for him in China will be robbed blind. This Apple-FoxConn joint venture is a prime target
My God! You REALLY don't use your brain, do you, or read what I post. First, its NOT a joint venture. FoxConn manufactures to order.
What part of Apple is in charge of the parts purchasing, shipping, and inventory, do you not understand? Are you oblivious to the fact that Apple buys up the entire production if some of the components and that competitors cannot buy any for their legitimate products much less for your mythical grey market Apple products.
