A supermarket in Germany was evacuated last Friday after a worker reported seeing one of the world's must deadly and vicious spiders -- a Brazilian Wandering Spider -- jump out of a banana crate. The store is due to reopen Monday after it was sprayed with pesticide -- but the beast has not been found.

Oh by the way here are some side effects of a bite from our handsome friend posted above... "The "aggressive" spider's venom can cause excruciating pain, paralysis, asphyxiation, and painful erections that last many hours and can lead to impotence in humans."

I’m confused.

Did it jump out, or did it wander out?

Anyone encountering it should be very careful. Amy Stewart, the author of "Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army & Other Diabolical Insects," cites the Brazilian Wandering Spider as one of her top five worst bugs. A bite doesn't just cause severe pain, but also leads to breathing problems, paralysis and even death. That isn't all. Stewart writes that the creature is fearless and so aggressive that it will stand on its hind legs, prepared to take on any challenger, however big.

Yikes—what a spider. Is that one of those funnel hopping maniacs I’ve heard about? It’s beautiful, in a spidery way, but you can keep him. We’ve got the poisonous Obama on the loose, so additional venomous creatures we really don’t need.

So it's Natural Viagra?

I’m the type of bug that likes to roam around
I’m never in one place I roam from town to town
And when I find myself a-fallin’ for some girl
I hop right on that banana and ride around the world
Yeah I’m the wanderer yeah the wanderer
I roam around around around

""The "aggressive" spider's venom can cause excruciating pain, paralysis, asphyxiation, and painful erections that last many hours ..."

I hope one or more of our ingenious pharmaceutical companies is working on filtering out the "excruciating pain, paralysis, asphyxiation," parts and working on isolating the "erections that last many hours" part.

Last guy that went to measure that thing the spider took the ruler and ate it.

Okay, this is a funnel web spider.

That bad boy will chase you. It can bite through trainers (sneakers). If your yard is infested with them you'd have to remove the whole yard down to three feet.

One of these days, someone might trap one of those mythical giant congo spiders. That someone would not be me. The "myth" is enough to keep me out of that jungle. The natives don't talk about it like it's a myth either, and I have no reason to doubt them.

Or nuke it from orbit. Just to make sure.

Sydney funnel-webs are medium-to-large in size, with a body length ranging from 2 cm to 7 cm (0.9" to 3"). They are glossy and darkly colored, ranging from blue-black to black to brown or dark-plum colored.

The spider can be very aggressive when provoked.

Funnel-web spider venom contains a compound known as atracotoxin, a highly toxic ion channel inhibitor. These spiders typically deliver a full envenomation when they bite, often striking repeatedly, due to their aggression and large fangs. For this reason, people are strongly advised not to approach them. Chances of being bitten are high if encountered.

Good googly-moogly—that thing’s a nightmare. Even a spider lover such as myself (my favorites are cat-spiders, and our American funnel-weavers, which can run fast but are terrified of people and totally non-aggressive (oh, and I love banana spiders, too)) finds it skin-crawly. If there hasn’t been a horror movie made about it yet, there should be. What a ghastly creature!
