Beautiful. The piece's real name btw is "The National March."

Sousa Wrote some great stuff, but after a while it all sounds alike.

I’ve actually seen Bernstein become airborne conducting Beethoven’s 9th!

Be kind to your web-footed friends
For a duck may be somebody’s mother,

Be kind to your friends in the swamp
Where the weather is always damp.

(lots of drums, horns and doodle doodle doodle doodle doodle doodle doot doot ...)

You may think that this is the end,
Well it is, but to prove we’re all liars,

We’re going to sing it again,
Only this time we’ll sing a little higher.

I saw the Maestro with the NY Philharmonic in 1976 during their Bicentennial tour. He conducted and played the piano simultaneously on "Rhapsody in Blue." Whoa!

Thank you! I loved this version. I enjoy playing it (clarinet with a lot of runs, arpeggios and trills) and this was thoroughly wonderful!

Happy Fourth!

My favorite march. I’ve always enjoyed it more since I saw a show, I think it was with Wynton Marsalis? where he went into the various constructive parts and how the piccolo part had a special melody all its own that can stand alone yet melds perfectly with the rest of the march.

Ever since then I listen for that melody and it really seems to actually increase my enjoyment of the march.

And Leonard Bernstein does a great job for an old communist!

My niece is a picolo player. She loves it. She has her part memorized and is standard in the repetoire.
