The issue is that other students can suffer grade-wise or by other favoritisms. This is more of an issue in college and grad school, but it doesn’t disappear here. I agree that at 18 there is less of an issue (he was of age and probably horny) but this possible favoritism is an issue still.

The kid is 18, he is an adult. What is the issue? In Texas, it is against the law for any public school teacher to have 'relations' with a student, no matter the age.

Person of authority ~ that's the issue. Many states have laws that specifically prohibit teachers (even college professors) from engaging in congress with their students.
