"Implants are 3-4 THOUSAND per tooth"I know someone that got implants for ALL of their 'upper' teeth for around $11k(maybe they give volume discounts lol). A root canal for a single tooth costs several hundred dollars.

The reason for implants is that a root canal won’t work.
If your friend had that many implants for $11K...that was very much discounted, or the procedures occured in Costa Rica.

Implants done right are indeed around $3.5-4.5K per tooth, depending on whether bone grafts are needed. You can get them for much less if you are prepared to have them redone several times over. Had a few myself, but taking real good care of the natural ones is a better deal if you can get it.
The guys in the airline mags that promise to replace everything in your mouth with perfect implants in one day are frauds. This is feasible in less than 0.1% of the population.
