Whether that satisfaction is seen as the pleasure of a higher power having fixed views, or the fickle adulation of a crowd and its pocketbooks, makes a lot of difference.

There are many kinds of satisfcation. Some people derive satisfaction from doing good for others, for standing up for the truth, for not deviating from their word, and so on.

Some people derive satisfaction from ripping other people off.

No, you’re being naive.

Self satisfaction is either primary, in the case of those who serve themselves—or secondary, in the case of those who serve others.
