A flock of ten flamingoes have met a brutal end at a zoo in Eskilstuna in eastern Sweden after a curious anteater broke into their compound and clawed them to death, leaving a further five birds nursing injuries.

Thanks. I would have joined a couple of weeks ago, but as a member of the U.S. Contingent to the International Indigent Flamingo Burial Society (IIFBS), I've been busy.

They can brag about their universal healthcare, but try and get 'em to cough up a few krona to embalm a flamingo.

Vilken huvudvärk!

So, do grilled flamingoes taste like chicken, or like fish?

Cub Scout Day Camp?

It's been a while since I had any bug juice to drink.

As for 'foundations', I haven't heard them called that in years. Mine are 100% cotton, except for the waist band. Cracking's never been much of a problem, but then again, I'm not a plumber.

I suppose cracking would be more of a problem if you were a drywall installer.

That's an odd way to put it, TC. I've always said that grilled chicken tastes like flamingo.

I defer to the party with the wider experience of life and fowl.

I once had the wider gustatory experience within my immediate circle.

No longer.

My youngest, Sarah Carter (yep, we like those double names), is now sixteen. Her boyfriend returned last Friday from a ten-day school mission trip to China, where he worked in an orphanage for mentally and physically disabled children.

While there, he ate monkey, snake, scorpion, dog . . . and the list goes on.

I'm quite jealous.

I've had snake, but it's so difficult to find a good restaurant with monkey and scorpion on the menu.

As for dog . . . well . . . I eat at a lot of Asian restaurants, so the jury's out.

Unnngh. I think I can skip all that stuff. Seaman Anoreth has eaten some dubious stuff in her travels over the last two years. When she comes home, she wants steak and pizza.

As long as the job gets done .... may take longer... but hey. Is that like Energy Star?

Pizza?

SC's boyfriend won't eat pizza. True story.

I didn't realize Anoreth had been in the Coast Guard for two years . . . time passes.

How is the Eagle Scout project coming along?

And what causes 'rat tail' in a cat? SC has two, a Maine Coon and one (Prozac) that clearly has a lot of Main Coon in it. Prozac once had a huge, bushy tail. Two years ago, the fur fell out.

Vet said "I dunno."

Nothing is creepier than a really fat, bushy, apricot-colored cat with a rat tail. Particularly when she's prone to stopping mid-stride and falling over blissfully zonked out (hence the reason she was named Emmylou for only two days before she became Prozac).

Yes, I have a rat-cat.

Yes, I have a rat-cat.

That was probably too much information. I've just met some of you.

Yes, two whole years. The paperwork to get the Eagle Scout project approved is progressing slooooooooooowly. It would progress more quickly, I believe, if he could hand-write it all, instead of doing it on the computer with the myriad distractions of iTunes, YouTube, and whatever else he’s got on. He’s probably spent 40 hours “working on stuff for my project,” and maybe 4 or 5 actually doing something productive. But his dad just lets him sit there, hour after hour. I go to bed.

Our Jake had bald patches on his tail. It was a fungal infection. Get some athlete’s-foot type ointment and apply it on the tails, a couple times a day for at least 3 weeks. Jake’s cleared up and the fur grew back, eventually.

Odd...I found a silverware tray in the dishwasher here, blissfully taking up the entire bottom tray. Then I found the measuring spoons and a measuring cup that I could have used yesterday.

Dishes are done, and we’re waiting for the lawn guy to come and give us an estimate on clean up.

Then I get to clean up the oven without an estimate.

And I estimate the floors will take at least an hour to do. *sigh*

(Please tell me I’m getting paid for this job.)

Maybe the silverware tray and the measuring cups were left by a dog.

Good luck with the oven!

Luck will be needed but elbow grease and at least one break will be needed more.

Off to change the linens.
