f we have no new unskilled labor, our workforce retires, we have less overall investment, our economy MUST contract. Which means recession.

So the “change in immigration stance” this advocates is “bend over even farther”?

It looks like a La Raza fascist has infiltrated Free Republic.

One can tell by the ESL writing skills and liberal type of argumentation and mentality.

I guarantee you this writer isn’t going to any Chinese or Indian politics board to discuss how they should have open borders for their supposed labor shortages.

According to liberals and illegals, only the US should have open borders and the US is the only country in the world with a labor shortage, which is a ridiculous talking point only made by traitors who wish to destroy this country.

Should we make a change in immigration stance?

In order to "change my stance" I would have to come out against the rule of law, national sovereignty, and our national security, and begin to support the economic, cultural and electoral destruction of my country.

So, you can go pound sand, troll.

Anything that is not 100% deportation of Illegal Aliens is Illegal Alien Amnesty.

It is time for the GOP to stop coddling the Hispano-Racist and Hispanic KKK groups who want Amnesty because they want more Hispanics in the USA.

The GOP loses more votes pandering to Illegal Aliens and Hispanic Racists by supporting Amnesty....they lose those votes to potential Independent, Democrat, and anti-Illegal Alien Hispanic voters who will vote for a party strong on Illegal Aliens

If the GOP continues to promote Illegal Alien Amnesty, and Amnesty-supporting candidates....they will cease to be a relevant party.

We already know from the 2008 election that running a pro-Illegal Alien candidate (John McCain) does not bring in Hispanic voters. McCain did not even get 1/3 of the Hispanic vote

The GOP had better drop its Fetish for Illegal Aliens. If they prefer to cater to Hispano-Racist groups over conservative and American voters....there will be no GOP

We don’t enforce our current immigration laws, so, to me, they don’t even exist so why bother with any new ones?

Please. The pro-intruder side is the one playing politics and playing Russian Roulette with our culture.

You can let some MS-13 gang members into your house if you want but there is a legal way to come to America and that should be the ONLY way.

The rest of us have principles. We could care less about the party.

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest level in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 130 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.977% (2010 estimate), principally due to immigration.

The latest data show 22.1 million immigrants holding jobs in the U.S. with an estimated 8 million being illegal aliens. By increasing the supply of labor between 1980 and 2000, immigration reduced the average annual earnings of native-born men by an estimated $1,700 or roughly 4 percent. Among natives without a high school education, who roughly correspond to the poorest tenth of the workforce, the estimated impact was even larger, reducing their wages by 7.4 percent. The reduction in earnings occurs regardless of whether the immigrants are legal or illegal, permanent or temporary. It is the presence of additional workers that reduces wages, not their legal status.

The Bureau of Labor statistics for March 2011 show a national unemployment rate of 8.8 percent, including 15.5 percent for blacks and 11.3 percent for Hispanics. 22 million Americans are seeking full-time employment. Despite the economic downturn, the U.S. continues to bring in 125,000 new, legal foreign workers a month. This includes new permanent residents (Green Cards) and long-term temporary visas and others who are authorized to take a job. This makes no sense.

Bureau of the Census: An Older and More Diverse Nation by Midcentury

•In 2050, the nation's population of children is expected to be 62 percent minority, up from 44 percent today. Thirty-nine percent are projected to be Hispanic (up from 22 percent in 2008), and 38 percent are projected to be single-race, non-Hispanic white (down from 56 percent in 2008).

•The percentage of the population in the "working ages" of 18 to 64 is projected to decline from 63 percent in 2008 to 57 percent in 2050.

•The working-age population is projected to become more than 50 percent minority in 2039 and be 55 percent minority in 2050 (up from 34 percent in 2008). Also in 2050, it is projected to be more than 30 percent Hispanic (up from 15 percent in 2008), 15 percent black (up from 13 percent in 2008) and 9.6 percent Asian (up from 5.3 percent in 2008

Immigration is a necessary evil and one we can live with if we are sober and pragmatic about the process.

As long as you're immigrating out of here and into the ozone....
