The pictures showed the dog clinging to the ROOF of a house, floating in the ocean. I merely question the possibility of this story being true, and find it implausible.
Dogs, cats and humans cannot drink sea water and remain alive. That dog had to have access to fresh water; and he didn't survive for 3 weeks without fresh water ....
It was a partially submerged house.
It must have made do somehow with rainwater. Amazing story... can't wait for the movie to come out.
And, approximately (give or take 20 gallons) how much fresh water do you think was in this house after a month of floating in the ocean? How much open, fresh water do you suppose would be in your house after it floated in the ocean for 30 days? Have you ever seen a house floating in the water after a day or two? The upstairs bedrooms are not dry, in fact they are usually about 6 ft or so underwater. About the only thing you see floating, are chunks of the roof. You can see that when we have floods in the midwest - and our lakes don’t have waves like the ocean does.
Now, I love dogs - I love them a lot. But, this has the markings of a ‘feel-good’ story that has little basis on plausible truth. If he clung to a house - how come there are no pictures of the house? Think about it... it’s winter/spring time. The ocean is COLD.
No shelter, no dry place to warm up, no water, no food (unless this is a magical fishing dog that can dive down and swim faster than fish) ... and without hypothermia, without water, without food, without shelter, this dog clung to life floating on the ocean for 30 days?

He's a fighter and was probably treated very well by his people! Nearly all of the animals we rescued over the years had this inherent lust for longevity. My first cat lived to the ripe age of 18. The basset hounds made it to 13. At present, the shriveled up, senior cat, sick with hyperthyroidism, and on daily meds, is determined to live beyond her 17 years. The other day, she caught a mouse!
With you, I am hoping his "people" are still alive because the thought of reuniting with them is what kept this dog going for 3 weeks.

God bless you for what you do for the critters. We certainly care about them around the ranch. We had one kitty named “Poo” that was with us for 24 years, and thought she’d go on forever, but all of a sudden she went.
We just lost an 18 year old, and still have another 14 cats, plus the four dogs.
Mrs. RQSR just brought home a Shih Tzu that was in trouble because of a divorce by its people. We are acclaimating to that now. We are accustomed to much larger outside dogs.
The way this place is put together with atrium across the back filled with cats, and BIG dogs in the front kennel out the front door it’s not possible to have the doggie door this Shih Tzu is accustomed to, so we have to walk him multiple times a day. He’s getting accustomed to waiting for us before doing his thing now. We just might make it as pals yet.
We live in an area with multiple types of birds of prey. Eagles, Multiple types of Hawks, Falcons, as well we have the passing Coyotes, Bobcats, and other beasts. We like to keep our critters in, and protected from harm. Lost too many when we moved here from the city 24 years ago.

We just lost this past Sunday, our 15 year old shep/lab mix.
We called him Lucky, but WE were the Lucky ones to have had him in our lives.
Hope this pup will have someone who will love and treasure him all the rest of his days.
Prayers for the family that he lost.
