I'm not sure I'd want to do this in the living room yet but it's an interesting discovery.
We may need it after Obama is finished with our economy.

I get really annoyed at post that are a little intriguing but there is not enough information for me to know for sue and I would be forced to click on to another site to find out more.
I was not curious enough to click, perhaps next time you could write a little bit more about whatever it is you are posting.

Soda bottles filled with water and placed in holes in the corrugated roof acting as light pipes. Neat idea.
However — each will come to leak, the plastic doesn’t last forever, and the roof will come to leak around them. They only work in sunlight, and would freeze in places where freezing temperatures occur.
Net out? Stick with skylights.

It is not a light bulb, per se, but more of a light diffuser. The “bulbs” are installed through the roof like a skylight. It brings the sunlight in ( of course would not work during the night )

Definitely a 3rd world solution.
But as mentioned, a potential winner in the upcoming Baraqqi Depression.

With so many windows in my house, those would do me no good.
I only turn lights on at night.
As do most NORMAL people.

Some folks just seem to be annoyed all the time, don't they?
If it isn't something like this they're over on the bloggers page screaming about blog pimps.
Friend, I've been around here for years and I don't have a record of wasting anyone's precious time.
Try to have a nice day, in spite of yourself.

Why not make deck prisms out of old CRT fronts?

Not a light bulb. Nothing but a cheap and dirty skylight.

I thought it was a pretty neat video.
You would have to have a pretty thin roof and no attic for it to work though.

I will definitely put some of these in the chicken coop and the stable that I am going to build this spring (if it ever stops raining).

Thank you for posting this. I do work in a third-world country and I can think of several places around my home where I can, and probably will, use this.
I appreciate you posting this information.

Full sunlight is about 100000 lumens per square meter at maximum surface intensity, with less at dawn and dusk and far less < /s> at night. A four inch diameter light pipe will get a maximum of 810 lumens of sunlight. That's similar to a 60 watt incandescent. So he's essentially putting in 4 inch diameter skylights.

That is a great idea, except how many can stomach more than five shots in a night every couple of months with their drunken neighbors?

Do you really think we're going to be allowed to have candles?
I expect fire of any kind to be outlawed.
