Soda bottles filled with water and placed in holes in the corrugated roof acting as light pipes. Neat idea.

However — each will come to leak, the plastic doesn’t last forever, and the roof will come to leak around them. They only work in sunlight, and would freeze in places where freezing temperatures occur.

Net out? Stick with skylights.

It is not a light bulb, per se, but more of a light diffuser.The “bulbs” are installed through the roof like a skylight. It brings the sunlight in ( of course would not work during the night )

Full sunlight is about 100000 lumens per square meter at maximum surface intensity, with less at dawn and dusk and far less < /s> at night. A four inch diameter light pipe will get a maximum of 810 lumens of sunlight. That's similar to a 60 watt incandescent. So he's essentially putting in 4 inch diameter skylights.
