I just got my iPhone 4 this past weekend and I love it. Verizon has excellent connectivity and network speed. Verizon’s network speed is far higher than AT&Ts. For the apps I use, and they are fairly heavy weight data apps, the difference is night and day. The iPhone 4 has significant improvements of over the iPhone 3GS and was worth the cost.
P.S. The things I love about the 4 are:
1. Screen resolution is much higher and therefore crisper and clearer. I thought the 3 had good resolution but the 4 is even better.
2. High resolution camera and video camera. HD resolution.
3. Additional front mounted camera for video conferencing.
4. Very bright flash/LED, which also makes for an excellent flashlight as well as a camera flash and video camera light.
5. Fast. Much faster than the 3.
6. Phone Tethering to laptop for broadband speed. Verizon only bills for the days in the month tethering is actually used and that cost is just $20 a month, so a daily charge is about $0.65 a day.
7. Physical dimensions are swuare so it is far easier to hold onto than the 3’s Dove bar feel.
8. Solid metal buttons. Nice improvement over the plastic ones of the 3. Tactile feel.
9. Sound quality. It is a phone, so that is important. The quality between our iPhone 4 phones is far better than it was with the iPhone 3. Maybe that is Verizon’s network, but I suspect the phone is a primary improvement as well.
Actually, CodeToad, AT&T's 3G is faster than Verizon's... almost twice as fast. AT&T doesn't have the depth of penetration of it's 3G that Verizon has, nor has it rolled out as much 3.75G (called 4G by both, even though it is not) as Verizon has... but neither the AT&T nor the Verizon iPhone4 can utilize any of the 4G networks on either carrier, that will have to wait for the iPhone5.
The iPhone4 itself is twice as fast as the 3Gs.
