Well, I was wrong. Some weeks ago, I sang the praises of the Viewsonic G-tablet and android tablets in general. This was before I encountered the above listed error. Apparently, this is a common Android error - roughly equivalent to the Windows blue screen of death. It is triggered by a variety of situations which may or may not be reproducible.

On an android phone, the solution is to do a hard reset and erase all your information before starting again. On an android tablet, the same applies, if the manufacturer has built in a hard reset function that can be accessed by hardware.

Unfortunately, the gtablet’s factory reset can only be accessed through the software menu, and the error blocks you from doing that. If you cannot *reflash* the device to factory baseline, you must send it in for a warranty repair.

Needless to say the gtablet is sold, and an iPad is on the way.

I was wrong, Apple has nothing to fear from these devices.
