The average retired postman is taking down $61,000 per year.
This is nonsense! I was a mailman for 33 years. I’ve been retired for 11 years. Can’t get much more average than that. I’m “taking down” $32,000 a year before taxes, health insurance, survivor annunity etc.

Why doesn't the USPS adopt what Facebook is doing?
They can get into social networking business and offer an @postoffice.com page to people who sign up. They can offer online bill-pay, passports, photo-processing, etc and at the same time offer an email with the same @postoffice.com domain name.

My thoughts too! Every other day service would work just fine I think for just about everyone. We’re all used to not getting mail on Sundays already.

I would be glad to pay $1.00 for first class mail and get my mail both mornings and afternoons on weekdays, and once a day on Saturday.
To me, cutting back on national mail service to five days or even four days sounds like something that a third world country would do, not the United States.
