HEATING FUEL HORROR STORIES
self | 1/26/2011 | self

I recieved a Propane delivery today at $4.04 a gallon. Luckily I am a Paraniod FReeper so the hit was $222 for 55 gallons

Before I took precautions I used about 800 gallons a year, Heating and Cooking, this price is insane.

Anyother horror stories out there.

Any other horror stories?

Hows about the billions we spend on LIHEAP?

I simply went to the hardware store and purchased an efficient heater to replace an inefficient heater. No gas furnace in this old house.

I get $1.65 propane by calling Masters Propane and having Elmer come pump my tank full!!

I also have a wood stove, a big one, I am going to replace it with a wood cook stove, I bake a lot. If my Granny could do I can! I might have to drive to Montana to get the one I want though.

1. Obama is killing the dollar with his overspending,

Obama isn't helping, but his predecessor beat him to it. At least Obama hasn't lied repeatedly by saying that he supports a strong dollar.

I bought a model that uses no power to operate. In my area of NH a generator is mandatory as is load planning for that generator. Well, heat, and the fridge, fall back wood stove and wash tub.

Talk about insanity, I was a masshole for 42 years, I still own property there and can’t get off of the voters list. I cut my expenses in half by moving to NH. I was going to retire to Wyoming, got a lot family there, after doing the numbers NH was the best.

I keep my house at 70 +/-, the true measure of a civilization is whether you are cold in winter or hot in summer. :-)

These Flat Landers don’t seem to realize that it gets really cold for a long time up here. The first time is saw -20 was in the NE Kingdom when I was a kid. They outlawed your type of stove in NH last year, in the interest of Mother Geaia, I am going to have my State Rep introduce a bill to repeal it.

That’s my fantasy, but the building inspectors in my county are pretty serious guys, and they aren’t going to let me put in a heavy iron or soapstone stove without reinforcing the floor and building a new chimney. And to be honest I don’t really have a good place to put a big wood cookstove.

But in 12-18 months I will be selling my house and buying something more reasonable, so I will shop with the idea that there must be a place for a woodstove or I just won’t buy.

What is a building inspector? Up here they issue plan approval and habitation permits and collect fees other than that you are on your own.

Sounds like you live in America. I used to live there. It was a wonderful place. Now I live in the People’s Socialist Democratic Republic of Montgomery County, Maryland. It’s one of the most liberal counties in the US. They actually go through your garbage to make sure you didn’t throw away anything that could conceivably have been recycled. They have inspectors for everything here.

You need to attend a Town Meeting and see how we were. Takes ten signatures to get an article on the Warrant, build support get rid of that which aggravates you.

And *I* want to live in one of those societies where I’m the one sittin’ on a big old pile of cash and the rest of you are doing my bidding. *SMILE* :)

There are only three conservatives in this county. I’m giving up and moving back to America. Let the liberals eat each other alive here; I’m moving to someplace where I can have chickens, keep my horse in my back property, carry my cute little bra gun around with me, and nail deer with a crossbow off my deck. Real life, the way I was brought up. No community association Nazis, no psychos checking my garbage, no need to pay for water, no traffic/crime/surveillance 1984 cameras everywhere. Normalcy.
