I was busy looking into the Bay of Pigs exile who claims Obama’s father is Cuban.
The issue came up when Arthur was running as the Vice Presidential Candidate by a lawyer named Hinman. It was no secret that Arthur’s father was an immigrant. Arthur made no attempt to hide this fact. Hinman later wrote a book about it.
The FIRST President that may not have been eligible to be President was a REPUBLICAN.
To think that no one knew about this issue is preposterous.
Of course, maybe you don’t even believe the historians when they say that had something happened to Arthur (he was ill at the time) after Garfield died.. ..for a short time there would have been a Constitutional crisis because there was NO LINE OF SUCCESSION in place. The Senate’s President pro tem had not been elected because Congress was not in session and had not elected such office.
Congress had to pass a law in 1886 to rectify the issue.Then Truman came along and wanted that law changed.
It is laughable to believe no one knew about Arthur’s father. Read your history.

Wong Kim Ark ( based on the 14th amendment which was never legally ratified) granted citizenship to children whom a parents had “partial” allegiance to the U.S.. Ark’s parents had legally immigrated( declared allegiance) to the U.S. and thus their children were declared citizens. Ark case never declared Ark a Natural Born citizen. What it does say is that Ark was declared a citizen ,equal to that of a Natural Born citizen. This clearly defines that there is a separation between a 14th amendment citizen and a Natural Born citizen.
