They've discovered the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine is released when people listen to their favourite music, be it rock, jazz or classical.

Interesting apropos the discussion in the last few days about favorite composers. It might have been framed as: "Which composer increases your dopamine the most?"

To Quote the Bard, “Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast” And I did not know that he even knew about dopamine.

Please don’t tell the FDA - they’ll want to regulate it like they’re trying to regulate everything else.

Actually, I find music to be the best medicine for me. People laugh but I have RA & some days I just feel really stiff, groggy & yuggy. I can turn on the old tunes, dance a bit & before long I feel much better. My neuro told me to keep moving & some days it’s the only way I can do it. I told my hubby that the music & old dances (twist, pony, Bristol stomp, etc.) trick my brain into thinking I’m young again. Maybe there’s some truth to that!

LOL..I hadn’t heard that song in years until someone mentioned it during DWTS. It now heads my play list! ;-)
To: relictele
Amen. And please TUNE the instrument well. Some of us can tell the difference. ;-)
