Navy Vet posted on FR right after it happened. Now sounds (per omaha.com) like it was a student that did the shooting. Per some FB info my daugther found, sounds like he was suspended from school this morning (first day back after holiday). Then came back to shoot the principal and vice principal. Then shot himself later. The shooter was said to have been the son of Omaha police detective.
It is very sad.
I was petrified when my BFF texted me! Was so worried about her boys. I love them dearly.
How is this going to be spun I wonder?
Son of a detective.
Sad
My wife has a theory about things like this:
Everyone is so concerned about little johnny's self esteem that punishment for minor infractions are dealt with that in mind. Keeping their precious self esteem in tact is more important than any punishment.
Consequently, when punishment IS handed down, they have no idea how to handle it and this is their first reaction.
I am not saying this is true across the board, but I think it at least deserves some thought. I mean, how are kids supposed to grow if they're never allowed to fail?
However, will we now see calls from politicians to get the guns out of the hands of police officers? Like they did in the UK? Apparently, no one is capable of keeping their firearms safe if the police can't even do it. </sarcasm>
Any idea what he was being suspended for?
