Sad
My wife has a theory about things like this:
Everyone is so concerned about little johnny's self esteem that punishment for minor infractions are dealt with that in mind. Keeping their precious self esteem in tact is more important than any punishment.
Consequently, when punishment IS handed down, they have no idea how to handle it and this is their first reaction.
I am not saying this is true across the board, but I think it at least deserves some thought. I mean, how are kids supposed to grow if they're never allowed to fail?
I agree with your wife. I would also add that parents are also responsible as many automatically side with the student and not the school. When I was in school if I got spanked at school I knew one was coming when I got home and there was no discussion of who was wrong.
We also need to address the stupid no tolerance rules that are in place because of the PC crowd.
This falls in line with my theory that today’s youth, told that they can do and be anything, when they discover they were lied to, will be bitter and angry older adults.
