3 outer spaceships approaching Earth: Pravda

Researchers have identified three giant objects, probably outer spaceships, approaching Earth, Russian daily Pravda reported Wednesday.

The largest object is 240 kilometers in diameter, the daily quoted researchers of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) headquartered in California.

Two others are smaller. At present, the objects are beyond the orbit of Pluto. Visible light detecting telescopes will be able to view the spaceships as soon as they reach Mars's orbit. SETI researchers expect the spaceships to pass by Earth in mid-December 2012. The researchers detected the spaceships by technology originally designed for researching the northern lights in Alaska.

The U.S. government has been informed about the event, the paper said. There are frequent reports about extraterrestrial activity in Russia.

Those Space Jews are responsible for a lot of foul happenings in world history. In fact the other day a Space Jew made me run a red light with their evil beta waves. That's the excuse I gave to the policeman who stopped me. "I didn't do it, officer. It was the Space Jews. They made me do it!" "Alright then, move along," he said. Good thing he wasn't one of the evil ones. You know, the ones being controlled by... _> the Space Jews.

Quix: 2. Seems conceivable given a lot of givens.

AlBu quips: At last: The voice of reason!

etc.

[^) I look at what's happening to America and the Western World today and wonder: Where is reason in play?

If we as a civilization want to pull this out, we have to get behind and stand strong for Christianity and our Judeo-Christian roots. It's coming down to that on the Islam front alone.

The bible has inspired the greatest human prosperity and progress in what little history we really know about ourselves. The wisdom in the bible is formidable and accurate. It is a guidebook to success. We embrace it with priority ... or perish.

Quix is right.

There was a link here, complete with actual sky coordinates so you could look the objectsup on the sky-map.com. I did this and found the objects. I will search for the previous thread.

It's probably the Vogons coming to destroy the earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Make sure you have a towel.

You know what scares me most about that? "In an infinite universe, anything is possible." It's hard to argue with the basic concept!

They are coming to witness the end of a planet.

Everybody likes to watch a car crash. And while not many will admit it, had we had the ability to go back in time to September 10, 2001, most of us would choose to travel to New York City so we could personally witness the events of September 11th (albeit from a safe distance).

A few years back, when a comet hit Jupiter, we had every telescope pointed towards it just before impact.

So it stands to reason that if it was known by more advanced civilizations that Earth was about to be destroyed in some manner, they would certainly want to keep an eye on that. And if they had the ability to send spacecraft to our area to observe, why they'd do that as well.

I don’t know what gets me more depressed, watching an asteroid wipe out life on Earth, or listening to Pink Floyd.

I always hated that music.

Nuke it from orbit? No need. We got us a gen-u-ine ancient alien underground base in Yakutia Siberia that exists for just such a purpose....plinking metorites before they can destroy the Earth. It's a relief to know that the aliens are giving back in some small way after all that probin they've been up to.

Excerpted from Phil Plait at Bad Astronomy :

I did a quick Google search on the name "Craig Kasnov", and the only results were in relation to the UFO article, which is more than a little suspicious. I also searched the astronomical journal databases, and there is no "Kasnov, C" to be found. But you can even find my old papers in those databases! So I called my friend Seth Shostak, an actual SETI astronomer, and asked him. He said, and I quote: "Well, I’ve never heard of this guy working here, and neither has our HR department … Of course, maybe he volunteered here once, or was a summer intern. But he’s not an astrophysicist for the SETI Institute, you can wager your Maserati on that."

If I had a Maserati, I would.

This gets a bit confusing, so bear with me. There is someone by the name of Craig Kasnoff (note the spelling), who worked on SETI@Home, software that allowed the public to use their home computers to process SETI data. It was the very first distributed software of its kind, and the idea is used in many other fields of astronomy now. However, that Craig Kasnoff was not with SETI (the software was developed at UC Berkeley), is not an astrophysicist, and never made the claims in the article.

So who is this Craig Kasnov mentioned in the article? That’s a really good question. My virtual Maserati says he doesn’t exist. What’s funny to me is that when I first saw the spaceship article a couple of weeks ago it just mentioned the guy’s name; and the author clearly added the "(not to be confused with Craig Kasnoff)" line later… perhaps in response to a comment left there by Craig Kasnoff. You know, the one who actually exists.

Yes, but it would be infinitely improbable.

The largest object is 240 kilometers in diameter

Okay, it's larger than Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer Executor, and about 1/5th the size of the 2nd Death Star (Roughly).

Travelling from that distance and at that speed would almost certainly cause it to come under the influence of gravitational forces (Having that much mass) of anything it goes near.

If it turns out to actually BE a ship, how's it going to slow down?

On another note, H.G. Wells's Martians operated in threes.

Oh hell no, you took the name of Pink Floyd “Peace be Upon them” in Vain.. That is wrong just wrong... If you want depression, watch the video of earth dying and the commercial with Sarah McGlaughlin singing for the humane society.. Man if that song was playing I’d want a meteor to crash into earth..
