It seemed to be common knowledge around Carter-Riverside High School in Fort Worth. Jennifer Riojas, a 25-year-old teacher who taught freshman science, was spending a lot of time with a 16-year-old student. Friends even asked the boy if he was intimate with Riojas...
He just laughed it off without answering, giving the distinct impression that he and his teacher were having an affair. They would spend their lunch times together, and she would also attend his sporting events.
But at least for the kid, the fun and games turned into something a little less exciting when Riojas ended up pregnant. The kid worried that he was the father. So he went to authorities with tales of their trysts.

FWIW, there was a posting on FReerepublic yesterday about some MALE teacher who was sentenced to something like 105 (one hundred and five) years for sex with a teenage girl(s) student.
Seems fair, eh?

I found the article. He’s 31, the girls were 14 at the time. 153 years.

I think it is 17 in Texas. I also believe Texas has a law prohibitng sex between a teacher and a student no matter the age.

You have to choose your advisor carefully and look for extracurricular help. This happened in the 70’s, even the 60’s.

"..The age of consent in Texas is 17 (Texas Penal Code Section 21.11). Section 21.12 further prohibits all sexual contact between an employee of a school (including educators) and a student enrolled at the primary or secondary school where said employee works (unless the student is the employee's spouse). No age is specified by the statute (thus, even if the student has reached consent age of 17, it is still a violation), and violations are a second degree felony..."
Looks like she is over the line on at least two legal grounds.

..and way before that as well. There was a lot of female teacher/male student hanky panky going on for decades.
