Japan to host summit of 27 whaling nations (Whale Wars Thread)

JAPAN has attracted 27 countries to a summit of pro-whaling nations to be held next week.

This comes as the Japanese whaling fleet prepares to leave port for its annual hunt in the Southern Ocean.

The Japanese Fisheries Agency announced it would convene the summit after the collapse in June of international talks on a compromise plan to phase out the Antarctic whale hunt in return for a resumption of limited commercial whaling.

The contentious Antarctic hunt - expected to again be the target of protests from the Sea Shepherd conservation group - is carried out under Japan's officially sanctioned but hotly contested "scientific" whaling program.

Yeah so the Whale Wars ping list knows I am anti whaling and anti Paul Watson. So this will be one interesting winter!

Pan_Yan and I will do our best to keep everyone informed as to what goes on this year during Sea Shepherd's latest campaign.

These threads draw heated debate so I beg you to please think before you speak, we are all FReepers.

I am 100% anti whaling yet I consider pro whaling people my friends.

Anyways with this info out of the way, Japan is bribing third world nations with hookers, drugs, money, ect... it is like something out of not "The Sopranos" but, "The Obamas" :)

I hope it is hit aft of the forward watertight bulkhead and goes down with all hands. I have seen enough of the other Sea “Shepherd” Vessels hazarding the free and safe navigation of the seas. May they all go to a cold, watery grave.

Before anyone accuses me of not knowing of what I speak: I spent the first half of my life at sea. I am disgusted at the free world being held hostage by these terrorists at sea. Damn pirates, they are.

THAT IS SACRILEGIOUS!!! What am I supposed to do if I'm depressed? I usually watch Whale Wars when I am depressed because I love to see hippies falling into the cold water, or bang their heads, or go into icebergs, ect...

Please! Keep them alive, I need something to laugh during these next two years under Emperor Zero!!!

Maybe Zero can be the celebrity on next year's whale wars campaign!!! He'd probably be kicked off the first day cuz he would want to apologize to anyone he could see.

Same here. I love watching them take out poorly maintained boats that constantly break down. Running out of food and supplies. And displaying some of the worst ship handling skills imaginable.

They should spend a bit less time painting logos and murals on their ships and a bit more time on seamanship 101. You know like drilling the crew on recovering boats while you are in harbor rather than doing it for the first time while in a high sea state and under way. And perhaps a fire drill would be good since they keep setting the ship on fire.

Let’s see, I was pretty accurate with last year’s prediction on the Earthracer’s fate. Wonder if I can go 2 for 2 on the new intercepter?

I predict that the intercepter will get disabled, probably north of the 60, by running into another ‘ecological nightmare.’ A drifting net or long line gets wrapped around the prop, with Sea Shepherd calling for emergency funds for repairs and alas, the repair time keeping the intercepter from actually engaging the fleet and wild accuations abour Japanese plots to disable the craft because they are so afraid of it.

Bold predictions, I know, but from what I’ve heard, they haven’t paid off the boat yet, and their normal donations are barely going to cover the opperating costs of the other two vessles and helecopter.

Here's my prediction, and I've got several previous years of data to back it up:

The Steve Irwin, with Admiral Coco Puffs in command, will have to return to port twice as often as the other ships, who will be left haplessly looking for the Japanese without his guidance. It's amazing how quickly the cheap booze runs out on those long, lonely nights at sea.

They need to come over here to Oregon and thin some of the herds. They are beginning to starve from overpopulation not to mention they could feed all these sushi bars.
