Like mother, dance star Bristol Palin wins over public

Youre right its not her fault.

Its simple demographics. According to poll liberals dont enjoy watching the show.So last night youve got a longstanding hollywood actor,a black woman singer,a black kid disney actor and a pseudofamous daughter of a GOP activist.

Right off the bat we can consider the black vote chopped in half between Brandi and the other kid,up and down the age chart. The liberals who watch the show arent voting for anyone but Jennifer Gray. Obviously republican watchers have developed a soft spot for Bristol and her continued improvement...and continue to vote her along.This is obvious thanks to her weekly spot on the leaderboard...the bottom.

So the question is do more black folks than conservative watch the show? Obviously. Brandi needed many more afro americans to vote for her,that disney kid gave her a run for her money.

Although the slight possibility of a black conservative watching this show exists,the occurance is so slight the that it doesnt skew the general principle.

Bristol's dance steps have alwaays been good. She's very light on her feet. Her main problem is showmanship. She can't compete in that area.

Ive been watching this show since the 1st one aired and Bristol isn't the first non dancer to get pretty far but most of the rest of them had a whole lot more of an outgoing personality. JMO

The people on the show still should have congratulated her on her win, just as they congratulated the others that made it into the finale.

You have apparently never heard of “Vote for the Worst”. It’s a whole internet-based group that purposely votes for the worst dancer/singer/whatever on any of these shows. The longevity of some of the worst performers has more to do with people manipulating the voting process than whether people actually like them.

As I wrote, I could not care less.

I think the show is stupid. Ever since the writer’s strike years ago broadcast TV has gone back to the talent show days of the 1950’s. If ever there was a great reason to have cable TV, it is Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

Even Monday Night Football sucks these days.

You’re right, they did have training. I guess I think of the show as sort of an American Idol where you go in a total novice (like Bristol) and come out a good dancer. I was actually pulling for Brandy. Her tango clinched it for me. I actually thought the bottom two would be Kyle and Bristol.

The NFL is not fit to watch anymore. It’s the women have taken over the sport.

As far as TV in general the commercials made me stop watching. I usally watch video clips form the shows on the web anymore to avoid the ads same with DWTS. I enjoy the thread on free republic and watch the clips posted online.

the problem to me is the idea of the left’s showmanship usally means acting like a whore. Bristol hasn’t done that and I for one am glad of that.

and the people on the show acted like idiots. But that is how haters act when they don’t get their way.

You are exactly wrong. Sorry, but the contest takes in to account the people's vote, so it is not JUST about dancing. You may not like that, but that's the way it has always been since the inception of the show - this is not new. This is just a fun show, not the Olympics for crying out loud. Otherwise, they should just give the trophy to Jennifer and not have a contest where voters have a say. I can assure you that on past shows winners have been chosen who were not necessarily the "best" dancers. This show is no different, it's just getting more attention because of who Bristol's mom is.

The public's vote is the only way to give a rank amateur any chance against someone like Brandy or Jennifer who both have some professional experience and both have experience performing in front of large crowds. If they want to make it about just who the best dancer is, then they should just have people like Maks and Mark compete and forget allowing total amateurs in the competition.

I have never watched that show, but I voted for her during the last two shows, 4 times each.

PS - This is more proof that President Palin is an inevitability.

I have never voted for DWTS until last week when I saw it on here people rooting for Bristol. I think we should all do our best to vote for her so she could win. After the way Levi treated her in the public arena its good to see Bristol get more famous than Levi for what she is doing. I dont care if she is a wheelchair. I will vote for her. Imagine the grinding of teeth across the nation!

Sometimes I wonder if that wasn’t really the plan, Bristol is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.

I don’t see the point of pitting amateurs against professionals and then getting angry if people vote for the amateur because she is doing good.

Actually, Kyle's partner (forget her name) can be seen walking over to Bristol and hugging her. It's in the background, and they don't zoom in on it, but it happened. None of this is Bristol's fault - she's just out there dancing her heart out. When Brandy got eliminated, I saw genuine concern for Brandy in Bristol's face:

Now that boys and girls, is class! She was more concerned about Brandy's feelings than the fact that she was moving on to the finals! I've rerun that clip several times and it is clear that Bristol was expecting to be booted and was clearly upset for Brandy that Brandy got the boot.

By the way “Baby” Jennifer Gray was a professional dancer in “Dirty Dancing” it’s no big deal that she can dance.

Bristol has shown the most improvement and because her mother is so “POLARIZING” She will win it all!

Emmit Smith won because of popularity, Mario was by far the better dancer, but lost!
