Two years of retirement haven't dulled George W. Bush's political zest - and President Obama and Sarah Palin are among his under-the-radar targets.
The 43rd President has told friends the ex-Alaska governor isn't qualified to be President and criticizes Arizona Sen. John McCain for putting Palin on the 2008 GOP ticket and handing her a national platform.
"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man," a Republican official familiar with Bush's thinking told the Daily News.

I saw a short clip of W with Oprah and he's not into dissing anyone. He's been like that for most of his political career.
This doesn't pass the smell test.
Friends say?? I dont think so. The NY Daily News says ...
It doesnt identify any of the Bush friends and sources by name and it quotes one unnamed Republican official who says that McCains Palin decision made Bush think less of McCain as a man.???
GWB, father of daughters, thinks the world of his mother and obviously is still in love with his wife would never say something like that about putting a woman on the ticket.
Not one person spoke for attribution in this story. Its all fabrication designed to trash both GWB and Palin. Since when do we believe the lsm on anything? But now were suppposed to believe that Bush, who never fought back against his own detractors, has suddenly turned into a backstabber a la Carter?
For the record Bush and McCain were not that cordial way before Palin was around. (revisit details of the 2000 campaign)
Yet here we are - there were a couple of simultaneous threads running yesterday about this on FR and there is more than one of these today - with a whole bunch of people saying it must be true because Bush was a big spender - now theres a fine piece of deductive reasoning if Ive ever heard it.
If this article is true, then Dubya is a bigger idiot than the media even thinks he is. What they seem to be ignoring is that McCain’s campaign was in the crapper until he nominated Palin as his Veep candidate, at which time his polls shot up more than ten percent. To blame Palin for the lousy campaign that McCain ran is absurd, at best, complete BS at worst.
Maybe if Sarah were black then Bush wouldn’t say she’s unqualified.
However, who knows if he even said this.
Why do you think Bush said any of that. What’s the name of the source? Anonymous? Imagine that.

Bush on Oprah to be aired next Tuesday:
OPRAH: So your brother Jeb was recently asked by CNN if he would support Sarah Palin for president. Did you hear that? In 2012.
PRES. BUSH: Yeah.
OPRAH: And he responded, You betcha. Do you think that Sarah Palin is the one for the Republican party in 2012?
PRES. BUSH: You know, I am not a political pundit. Im really not. And secondly, a lot is gonna happen between now and the nominating process. I I have no clue.
OPRAH: Im not asking you to pundit.
PRES. BUSH: Yeah, you are.
OPRAH: Im just asking you your opinion.
PRES. BUSH: Youre asking me to wade back into the swamp.
OPRAH: Come on in. Come on in.
“... Republican official familiar with Bush’s thinking...”
An unnamed source, who is a mind reader, allegedly reports thoughts of Bush to MSM.... and folks jump right in and believe this tripe. Amazing.
Pure and total BULL KRAP! If their source can’t be named most likely they are lying. OR most likely their source is some paid off hack that got fired by the Bush administration or family.
Nice try, but NO BANANA!
Bush’s rise in popularity makes these liars want to use him to trash Sarah Palin...too bad we’re onto them like white on rice.
Really? You trust their “anonymous” source and know they’re truthful?
How do you know that he said it?
This has Karl Rove written all over it. Establishment Republican psyops to marginalize CONSERVATIVES within the Esatblshment.
Remember this with every anti-Palin piece that surfaces.
Let me ask you, how do you know he said it? Do you know anonymous well enough to trust them as a source of info? How about the MSM? They’re always truthful?
Why are you trusting an anonymous source from the MSM?
Freepers tout the bias and outright lying in the press and then embrace it. Yup. Amazing.
sarah is really shake’in things up in the good ole boy corrupt machine- Big time

I'll give it a try...
Half a term as governor of the state with the smallest population and a couple of terms as mayor of a very small town are the full extent of her real-world experience. That does not qualify her to be President.
Her work in the spotlight does not add to her qualifications, if it did then Matthews and Olbermann would have to be considered qualified because they perform the same function just in a different venue.
Another one. *sigh* Tell me how you know that Bush said it.
