Woman shook infant because it interrupted her playing Farmville on Facebook
A north Florida mother has pleaded guilty to shaking her baby to death after the boy's crying interrupted her game on Facebook.
Alexandra V. Tobias pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday and remains jailed.
The Florida Times-Union reports that she told investigators she was angered because the boy was crying while she was playing the game FarmVille.
The paper also reports that she told investigators she shook the boy, smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again.
She will be sentenced in December. State guidelines call for 25 to 50 years, but a prosecutor said it could be shorter than that.
A telephone message and an e-mail sent by The Associated Press to her attorney weren't immediately returned.
The infant was 3 months old.
Insanity!
And the babies FATHER??? The article makes no mention at all!! But then, little mommy might not know who he is.
Three months old!?
This woman should be facing death! The kid probably needed his diaper changed or was hungry or some other need he had. All this ... human had to do was stop playing the game and tend to this child.
Instead, she kills him. Let the punishment fit the crime.
Trash, pure and simple.
To live and die in L.A. (Lower Alabama).
Typical super-intelligent computer operator.
Fathers are not necessary any more. In fact, they just teach phallocentric violence and colonialism. Where have you been the last 30 years?
dear God...
Mozilla updates Firefox to crush Farmville complaints Extends crash protection timing so slow PCs can run Flash games
By Gregg Keizer
June 28, 2010 06:04 AM ETComments (12)Recommended (45)FacebookTwitterShare.Computerworld - Just three days after adding crash protection to Firefox, Mozilla rushed out another release on Friday because people playing Farmville complained that their browser was shutting down the Facebook game.
Mozilla added what it calls "out of process plug-ins" (OOPP) -- a feature designed to keep the browser up and running when a plug-in crashes -- to Firefox 3.6.4, which shipped June 22.
If Adobe's Flash Player, Apple's QuickTime or Microsoft's Silverlight crashes or is unresponsive for more than 10 seconds, Firefox 3.6.4 displays a message telling the user that the browser has killed the plug-in.
But the 10-second pause was too short.
I know, I know, taking the plea bargain for second degree murder saves the county oodles by not having to prosecute. But dragging it into the alley behind the cop shop and putting a bullet thru it’s head saves even more.
If I was the Judge I wouldn’t accept any plea with less than 30 years. The only reason I would accept 30 years is as an incentive to plead guilty. If she put everyone through a trial she would have to kill me to get a sentence less than 50 years.
“Big Mommas” going to love her in prison.
I’m so insanely, bloodily, stark-raving sick of news stories alarming us to the dangers of evil recent technology. From SUVs which kill people of their own accord, to the “Craig’s List Killer,” to cyber-bullying (which can only be seperated from regular bullying by its being more impersonal and therefore inarguably less dangerous), you’d think this was Terminator and the machines were rising to destroy us.
Shut up!
Why should it be shorter? She should be in jail for as long as the baby will be in his grave.
I agree.
These people are beyond crazy and it is not the technologies being used at that time that bring on their behavior. They would go nuts without Farmville, Facebook, or any other form of mind numbing stuff.
The people that do this are bad from the beginning and don't need an excuse to do their evil.
