Woman alleges 'Sox' tattooed backward on thigh By: Todd J. Behme October 08, 2010

(Crain's) — A Chicago White Sox logo was tattooed backward onto a woman's thigh, she alleges in a lawsuit filed Thursday.

Eugenia “Gina” Bebis of Elmwood Park went to Mystic Tattoo Art & Body Piercing in Chicago in early June for a tattoo made up mainly of the Sox logo, according to the suit. She consulted with an employee, Micah St. John, and he worked up a proof of the design, the suit says.

Mr. St. John then inked the tattoo on the outside of her thigh, and when she was able to see it, she saw that it was backward, with the word “Sox” in reverse, according to the suit, which names as defendants Mr. St. John and Mystic, 3120 N. Cicero Ave. in Chicago.

Ms. Bebis, 20, alleges in the complaint that she “has had to undergo extensive laser tattoo removal procedures, will require further procedures in the future and will also require a different, larger tattoo to cover up the laser-faded backwards tattoo at issue.”

The laser treatments have caused “severe and continuous pain,” according to the complaint, filed in Cook County Circuit Court.

She's seeking damages not to exceed $50,000, according to the suit.

"My client wants the shop to be accountable for what it did, given how obvious the mistake was to the person inking the tattoo," Ms. Bebis' lawyer, Daniel C. Fabbri, said in an e-mail. "She just wants this taken care of, and to be compensated for all that she has had to go through, especially the incredibly painful laser removal process."

There was no answer Friday at a phone number for Mystic Tattoo.

What was the tattoo underneath she was trying to cover up? Looks like an 80’s “tribal man” logo or something.

A girl walks into a tattoo shoppe and asks for a tattoo of Elvis on the inside of her left thigh. The artist said, “Elvis is my specialty, c-mon in and have a seat!!”

As he finishes, she takes a look and says, “THAT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE ELVIS!”
He replies, “That is the best Elvis I have ever done.”
She disagrees. So he offers to do a mirror image on the other leg — so he gives her one on the inside of the other leg, perfect mirror image.
She says, “That looks better, but it don’t look like Elvis either.”

So he tells her to go out on the street, and if she finds ONE person that does not think the tattoos look like Elvis, then it’s on the house!!!!! Well…the first person she finds is an old wino. She pulls up her skirt and says, “Who do you think this is?”

He squints & stammers, “I don’t know who the twins are, but the one in the middle looks just like Willie Nelson.”

Maybe she was looking in a mirror?

LOL.

It could have been worse. She might have had a Cubs tattoo put on instead of White Sox!

An oldie, but a goody.

It might have been easier if this girl just looked at her Sox tattoo with a mirror.

2 points:

1) I’ll bet it looks correct in the mirror, where I’m sure Ms. Bebis spends a lot of her time, and;
2) I have a hard time generating much sympathy for Ms. Bebis or the tattoo shop.

She goes to a north side tattoo parlor and expects a Sox tattoo done up right?

The Tattoo artist put the stencil on backwards! She has a case and should sue. This is why you never go to a drunk tattoo artist.

Appears to be the outer thigh... does she have ruler markings on the inner thigh to make sure the boys measure up?

"She just wants this taken care of, and to be compensated for all that she has had to go through, especially the incredibly painful laser removal process."

Her pain in nothing compared to the double whammy her parents must feel - both for spawning a daughter who was stupid enough to have her body tattoed AND for being a White Sox fan.

Oh, the shame!!

If I saw that I would think it was a meat hook holding up some sort of anchor. And that ghostly thing underneath makes it look like it is underwater.

I am not up on tattoo etiquette but I would think the artist would draw the tattoo and then you would take a good hard look at it to make sure it is exactly how you wanted it. Once it is drawn perhaps there should be a two day waiting period before it is put on your skin for for your whole freakin’ life.
