Art news. Personally, I don't much like the art works of Michelangelo - but I know that he is highly esteemed - so this is significant.

The owner of the pieta ... grew up with the pieta hanging in the family home. It once crashed to the ground when hit by a tennis ball he and his brothers were playing with, but was undamaged.

LOL, museum curators around the world have to take valium after they read that.

I do like his works. I consider the sistine chapel ceiling to be the greatest work of art in world. His sculpture of David at the Academia in Florence easily the greatest of that medium.

His sculptures are better executed than his paintings; the sheer age and history of such a painting is enough to make the tennis ball anecdote a little nerve-wracking even to those of us who prefer other Renaissance maestros.
