I'm not a kid person. Maybe I'll mellow as I get older & one day have a family, but It bothers me to no end when I go to dinner & get seated next to a table with a bunch of kids. Invariably, one of the kids will start screaming at the top of their lungs or start running around the restaurant, and the parent(s) will just sit there. Of course you know the rest of us in the restaurant just love paying $40 to listen to kids scream while we eat. This is the reason businesses & restaurants are moving toward "Child Free Zones".
But what about the more disfunctional families? People have thrown around the idea of licensing people if they want families. The story below made me think of it when I read it. On the surface it seems absurd & authoritarian, but look at the bigger context...
Rimjob's diary :: :: We require licenses & permits for people to...
Drive a car.
Serve alcohol at an establishment.
Be a hair dresser at a salon.
Hunt deer or fish.
Remodel their homes.
Get married.
Operate a day care for children.
...We do that because of societal needs for safety. However, a 16 year old on crystal meth can pop out children, and be expected to raise them.
That's what is really upsetting. When you see people who have no business having children. The 19 year old couple that had to skip college to have 3 kids, and living pay day to pay day to support them, or the young women who come on Maury to find their baby's father. The women & men are more often than not poor & uneducated. The kids in these situations are starting out with "2 strikes" against them. Disfunction breeding disfunction in a descending spiral.
That's not to say there can't be love or the children in these situations can't rise out of it, but they're starting in a bad position.
[snip]
The hard part & what probably makes licensing unfeasible, is what would be the consequences of someone "illegaly" having children? Would you lock them up? What would that do? Also, look at people with Driver's licenses. Half the people who are licensed to drive on the road have no business doing it. So just because we licensed people to have children, it wouldn't mean they would be good parents...

I’m sure Liberals, Minorities, and Illegals will be exempt!
Well fortunately the lib who wrote this sounds like he doesn’t have kids.
Considering what seems to go for parenting now days I might just have to agree with them on this one.
The economy is imploding.
They WILL monetize EVERYTHING. They have too.
Otherwise the ponzi scheme will crash, and they are desperate to keep it from crashing.
Oh! I don’t know. I think it would have been a good idea for a certain female in HI in 1961 to have been required to get a license. Maybe she could have saved us all from the destruction of our country as perhaps she would have been denied a license!!!!
Got carried away. Meant to say also she wasn’t around to be a mother (don’t think she was all that interested) and the father split so~~~~~!!!!
Back in the day when a restaurant would ask “smoking or non smoking”, my husband would ask for the “no children” section. If we had paid a sitter to keep our kids and have a grown up dinner, the last thing we wanted was someone else’s brats.....
Personally I think in order to be put on welfare rolls you should have to be sterilized at least temporarily. At least stop benifits for women having additional children. Encouraging parasites to breed is moronic.
I’m certainly not anti-birth population growth is critical for the surivial of this nation but producers need to breed not the trash who lives off the gubmit.
I do agree that LIBERALS should have a license to have kids... no argument here...
Hey, howz’ ‘bout a license to kill them before they’re born . . . or just after they’re born as Nobama thinks is ok?
Got news for them. Monetize what you will, the ponzi scheme is going to crash, regardless. The pyramid has been inverted, and the rest, as they say, is history. Nothing they can do, at this juncture, to 'right' the pyramid in time to keep it from collapse...
the infowarrior
Me too ... I have often asked for the “no screaming baby” section, especially if there is a screaming child within earshot when we entered. Whining or running around uncontrolled are just as bad. My kids never subjected anybody to that kind of torture and I’d appreciate the same in return.
The 19 year old couple that had to skip college to have 3 kids, and living pay day to pay day to support them,
This is the attitude that bothers me the most. Big friggin deal if these people didn’t get college educations! The world needs electricians and plumbers and mechanics and ditch diggers too! And alot of wonderful people have been raised and ARE being raised in families that the parents aren’t college educated.
This is basically a cry for poor people to stop procreating. that only the wealthy should have children. well guess what? wealthy people have pretty disfunctional homes too...and raise brats too!
And guess what? if we went and took a good look throughout history we’d find that some of the most intelligent, driven, creative, compassionate and inventive people were raised in poor and probably disfunctional homes. What about abraham lincoln?
No, usually not. Sometimes it's to raise revenue, as with fishing licenses. Sometimes it's to control the number of users (hunting licenses). Often, it's to restrict competition in order to buy the votes of established businesses (hairdresser licenses).
I could go on, but the point's been made.
Liberals believe you Should You Need A License To Have Kids?
Not liberals, leftists.
There are no liberals anymore, only leftists who want to control and steal.
I’ve done that too. However, I find a noisy baby much easier to take if the parents are genuinely trying to quiet it down. The parents who ignore their kids’ bad behavior or who issue repeated ineffectual threats—”This is the last [i.e. umpteenth and not last] time I’m going to tell you, Jayleigh!”—really get under my skin.

Well, it's the leftist way. I think people running for office should take a psychiatric test first and every year their in office thereafter.
They will try, but they won’t succeed.
No doubt about that.
