FAT TAX ON SODA POP?

One of the unexpected side effects of Obama’s socialized medicine plan could be the state claiming the right to determine what you can eat or drink. When your good health becomes a matter of fiscal policy, you can predict the “fat police” stepping into your life, regulating nutrition as they see fit, and it appears early salvos in that battle are now sounding in Illinois. Murmurs from “public interest groups” located in the Land of Lincoln are suggesting a mandatory state tax on sugary soft drinks that could potentially raise the price of high calorie sodas by one or two cents per ounce. That’s right, this Illinois “fat tax” could raise the price of a two-liter pop bottle by 60 cents to $1.20. For now, it’s still in the talking stage. Perhaps they are talking it over coffee—without sugar, of course.

I can’t remember the last time I had a soda pop. The stuff is just not something I would drink anymore.

This tax is the same as the one on cigarettes. Those who have cheered on those taxes and like to have a soda pop now and then, you did it to yourself.

Um. What’s with the “888”?

Do they know that idiots faggots use “88” to symbolize “HH”, because they are fags who idolize a certain German chancellor who was also a fag?

If they needed to choose a sequence of numbers they could have chosen a better one.

Ask Bill Clinton how that tactic worked in Arkansas. Added tax to soft drinks and the fast food joints just stopped giving free refills. That didn’t’t last long.

“Unexpected” seems to find it's way into just about every news report the press can dream up these days.

Some of us have been warning the idiot Lemming crowds about this for years. Now all of a sudden, they are concerned about the Gubbermint telling them what they can eat, drink and how they must live.

To coin a phrase; “You ain't seen nuthin'’ yet!”

The only legal tax revolt is to stop your spending.
The only time government can collect taxes is when you spend $ for goods and services,
Take our extra money (if you have any) and bury it in your “back yard” not the “Bank”.
Use Cash not debit or credit cards. (The newly created consumer protection agency can now track your bank accounts.)

These liberals are idiots, but I repeat myself.

They have no idea what they are doing. I spent 25 years in the soft drink industry and taxing sugary drinks will only raise the price of ALL soft drinks and generate less taxes.

Diet drinks cost about 10 % more to produce because of the various artificial sweeteners they use. The price soft drink companies charge for their products is weighted for the mix between the share of regular and diet drinks. If the percent of diet drinks go up since their consumption will increase since they are not taxed, they will raise the price of all drinks to cover the difference in their costs.

So basically consumers will pay more in taxes, pay more for soda, and consumption will drop and whatever tax revenues they are currently generating will decrease.

How about a carbon tax on Coke and Pepsi?? That is pure CARBON DIOXIDE they inject into their drinks to give it those bubbles.

How much of the greenhouse gas effect is due to soft drink ‘carbonation’
