Here's an article from a Google Web search. The same search on Google News comes up blank. The closest the article comes to fact is this:

The incident is the first fatal mauling by a grizzly bear in the area in 25 years, and the first such fatal attack to take place at a site where researchers had recently trapped and released a bear.

The important point is "released". The rest of the article is a study in evasion of this point: that the man was killed by a bear recently INTRODUCED into the area. The first in 25 years! Now we have the second in 2 months, along with some minor maiming.

This is like JAWS upside down.

The bear wasn’t introduced into the area. They drugged the bear to weigh it and take blood samples. It woke up and ran off. It was still pissed off when it ran into the first man.
