Conservatives Knew 2 Years Ago That Obama Was Not a Leader

Ambassador Obama 7/31/08

I cannot get a straight answer from any of my colleagues. Why exactly do they like Obama? No, seriously. Specifically. What's so great? I mean, I get that he's tall, slender, handsome, and has a great smile... but what is his specific appeal? Beyond looks and words, I mean. Beyond what he symbolizes (exoneration from white guilt, and a gesture toward a world that hates America even when we're saving their butts and pouring financial aid down their throats.)

What exactly do they think Obama will do? End war? Well, no, he's said recently that he'd intensify our involvement in Afghanistan... and now he's talking smack about Pakistan!

Even Bush didn't talk smack about Pakistan.

Will he change the world? Well, they think he will, though he didn't even change Chicago, and he had plenty of chances.

Will he bring the races together? Fulfill MLK's dream of all of us sitting down together at the same table? Um... I doubt it. No one who hung out with Reverend Wright for 20 years wants to bring whites to the table, unless we are crispy golden-brown, and have an apple in our mouths.

So what do they want Obama to do?

It seems to me, they want him to 'represent.' Step forth and be the face of America. Go unto the distant lands and smile pretty. Be dazzling. Sell us to the populace. Show me the money! You're fabulous, darling. Fabulous.

No one that I've met, not even his supporters, talks about the decisions they want him to make. They don't give a flying possum WHAT decisions he makes, that much is clear.

He says "Pull the troops out of Iraq!" They cheer.

He says, "We can't pull them out now, the engines can't hold, sir, she's breaking up!" They cheer.

He says "The surge won't work!" and they cheer.

He says, "Since the surge worked, we can probably pull out in 16 months." Even McCain says, "Yeah, probably."

If he sang, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran" and even the tree-huggers would sing along.

It's baffling if you're wondering what he stands for and why anyone would want him leading us. Leading us where?? This is not a man who has any idea where to go, much less how to get there. (And lo, he said exactly that in his recent address from the Oval Office.)

But I'll tell you what he does know. He knows how to SELL things. He could sell a melting ice-cap to a sober Eskimo. He can show you the money. He can lead a horse to water and turn that water into wine! That's why they call him the Messiah! Want to play 'Where's Obama?' Follow the drunken horse!

In other words, this man is not a President. He's not presidential material. A president is, frankly, someone like George W. Bush. A president is someone who makes unpopular decisions, and everyone hates him. And he doesn't care, because leadership is not a popularity contest.

Can you imagine Obama's reaction to being unpopular? Everyone giving him dirty looks? He'd crap himself. He's accustomed to being loved and adored. He's accustomed to being stroked, petted, cooed over.(Which is exactly what Charles Blow of the NYT just said this week.) Women love him. They giggle when they see him, but freeze when he sees them. Then they faint.

You think this man is ready to do something that will have everyone throwing rotten tomatoes at him? Are you high? It would kill him.

Obama is an ambassador at heart. He's the guy you send in to soften up your targets and make them not totally hate the fact that you've cut their budget, re-allocated their slush fund, taken a fresh look at their territorial claims, and right-sized their staff. Heck, he's not even there to do that ugly stuff. He's there in advance to let you know that you are still a very valuable part of the team, and he is counting on you to pull it together ... like only you can! Because no one else could handle it like you!

Obama is good at being uplifting, energizing, inspiring, reassuring... He's the gameshow host who gets the audience whooping and cheering, not the studio exec who says, "Fire that old fellow and hire the guy from that sitcom with the fat secretary." Who loves that studio exec? No one. Who loves the game show host? Everyone!!

The next time a colleague tells me how he loves Obama because he's inspiring, energizing, articulate, and represents a fresh new wind of change, I'm going to agree with him.

Yes, he does. He can go overseas and make people love America again. This is a job for an ambassador.

But it's not what a president does. A president makes decisions. An ambassador is that spoonful of sugar that makes the medicine go down.

I realize I'm just gloating, but it amazes me that something that was so clear to me (me, a woman not noted for startling human insights) is only just now becoming clear to the liberal half of America.

Let's trip down memory lane shall we?

1. THOUSANDS of blacks lined up at Cobo Hall to sign up for free money. Interviewed, they voiced their displeasure that they weren't going to actually get a fist full of hundreds, but had to apply! Moron after moron after moron when asked where the money was coming from said, OBAMA! Need I say more. I think not.

2. Town hall meeting with Ozero. Incredibly fat black woman ask for a new kitchen and new house. Ozero says No Problem! Need I say more? Why certainly!

3. Black woman being interviewed says she has NO MORE WORRIES! She'll NEVER have to pay for gas again, she'll be getting a new car free for life, she is on EASY STREET, and all thanks to Ozero! Need I say more? At this point who cares! We live in welfare state of moronic idiots!

Indeed. It was so obvious this guy was a disaster, a Manchurian Candidate, as phony as can be.

The other problem is, he’s a bigger disaster than I had imagined.

In 2008. The economy was falling apart. President Bush was unpopular. And Obama was able to convince a little more than half of the voters that if they rode with him they would get something out of it. I think they are starting to realize that Obama doesn’t care about them.

All of those people in my generation who ran to the voting booth to vote for him because he is “cool” are now living, breathing and eating in Obama’s America. And its getting too expensive to do all three.

The fact is that most people just don't think deeply or even shallowly about Obama or any problem. Most people want a quick fix, easy answers, or magic. I'm a black man and I feel the same as you. I could see Obama would be a disaster two years ago. He was just an empty suit. Nobody could point to what he accomplished in Chicago as a community organizer. It's a sad state of affairs for humanity in general and our society in particular. People want flash and celebrity, not real problem solvers as leaders. Real leaders are boring because they fix problems before they get too big and keep the ship of state running smooth and steady.

But don't forget, the Communists have been working against us for decades. They've softened our peoples' minds, and turned victim hood into the highest calling. With that, it's no surprise that people will pick the best show rather than the best skill.

Conservatives are not the problem.
It is the empty headed Libs that think that all animals are cute and cuddly - Jesus Christ was a sponsor of terrorism - That all thing work out for the best if you just smile and wait long enough - that anyone who doesn’t think like you is mentally ill - and on and on.

I was volunteering yesterday at a local hospital. In between ferrying patients in wheelchairs out to the lobby for discharge, a colleague and I were arguing politics. He made a disparaging remark about Sarah Palin. I asked Jerry to name ONE qualification that Osama has over Sarah. He said, “why, Obama is a lawyer and was the editor of the Harvard Law Review.” At that point I said, “Jerry, we can’t talk about this any more.” He persisted, and I had to get up and walk away. Dude is 80, and Air Force vet and apparently was a successful businessman.

Where is that quote from Neal Boortz that the problem is not Obama but the people stupid and venal enough to elect him?

I'm still looking for it.

I held my nose & winced when I voted for Juan and then I went home and lay down after taking painkillers. The choice was between terrible (Q.E.D.) and simply awful. This is the second recent time when the GOP has put up a certain loser as their Presidential candidate. Life sucks ... and so does the GOP leadership.

“We live in welfare state of moronic idiots! “

The irony is that the worst thing that can happen to these people, and their children especially, is that they stay dependent on government. Democrats are stealing their self-determination, and ultimately their self-respect. This is not about intelligence or abilities. It is about mindset. The Bush/Rice phrase “the soft bigotry of low expectations” was spot on.

He was being pushed by the affirmative action crowd. Doors were opened up and paths cleared out of the way. The msm had a big role in this. We can all see what a disaster this has been.

People want flash and celebrity, not real problem solvers as leaders.

That's it.

Americans have a woefully short attention span, and diminishing knowledge of their own history.

I'm also puzzled by big media's drumbeat of "capitalism is evil." What's the problem with creating businesses that put people to work? Businesses small, medium and large? People who found and run businesses appreciate the effort that goes into solving real problems.

Obama is neither particular tall nor handsome. He has jug ears. He tries to “cool-slouch” walk. His
speaking inflections are irksome as is his pronunciation of names, geographical features and the like ...”Taleebaan,” “Pakeeestan;” dropping word endings..Mississippaaa. There is nothing to suggest that the affectionate dialect of an American regionalist (Like John Kennedy and “Veetnam” or even John Edwards honeysmooth southern talk) is the cause of this. Strictly playacting and pandering. People are starting to see this and are becoming bored if not horrified at what they see

What he probably really meant to say was “he’s a black guy and thus I can’t say anything disparaging so I’ll throw something out there to prove I’m not a “racist”

Yeah, that pretty well describes how I felt that day too.

IMHO, it's just class warfare, and the Leftists know that most people are workers, not business owners or managers or executives. Talk to people and you'll find out that a vast majority have NO idea what a manager or owner does, even among "well-educated" people like my engineering peers, who should know better. I always hear the same thing:

The bosses are stealing from us.(Me - Not only is that not true, it ain't your money).
Why can't they provide job security? (Me - How is that even possible, even for the top boss? Example, see BP and GM)
Bosses don't do anything all day but walk around and bug people.(Me - You just don't know what their job entails, and believe me, they work 60 hours/week minimum. Oh, and no overtime pay).

I was pretty misinformed growing up as well; my parents were working class poor. It wasn't until I moved into management that I realized how hard the job was, and what it required.
