Turkey is gone. I am not sure it was ever really on our side. Many in these countries liked western consumer goods, they just didn’t like the values they implied or came with them. They thought they could segregate the goods from the values. They have been finding they cannot. We will have to make a decision at some point whether we want to export consumer goods to these places. The lack thereof led to the collapse of communism.The lack of modernity by embargoing consumer goods to these lands may do more to reform them than force of arms. Ostracism as behaviour modification and punishment works.

OPINION:

It’s sad about Turkey; however, I believe that this change won’t bother the Obama administration.

I can’t see how that helps Turkey. All I can figure is some top officials may be on the Iranian bribe list.

All I can figure is that it is not the national interest, it is the national religion. Kind of like the ISI in Pakistan.
