UFO spotted over eastern Australia (Video at Site)
ABC News ^ | 6/5/2010 | ABC News

An astronomer says a bright spiralling light spotted in the sky by people across eastern Australia was probably a satellite, space junk or a rocket.

The UFO was seen moving through the sky just before Saturday's sunrise in New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT.

ABC News Online has received dozens of emails, pictures and videos from those who claim to have witnessed the huge white light.

Some described it as a "lollipop-type swirl". Others say it hovered for a while before gradually moving in an eastern direction until it was out of sight. Those who saw the object say photos do not reflect how large it actually was.

This is the third or fourth such video in the last four months. There was one from Norway, one from the Midwest, this one from Down Under and I think one from Canada. Somebody’s doing some good fotoshopping or there actually is something in the sky. Given the Norway and Aussie locations maybe something is going on with the magnetic field causing a type of Borealis.

It’s pretty obvious these similiar phenomena worldwide (Norway, China, now Australia) are spinning rocket fuel plumes in the very upper atmosphere or near-space.

But why so many now? What is blowing out the sides of rockets so neatly that they start to spin and vent? Are we witnessing energy beam warfare?

And what force is holding the rotating exhaust in such a tightly structured spiral form aftr it starts to spew, and why does this holding force eventually cease, and allow normal rotational dissipation at the end?

Enquiring minds want to know.

An online friend from AU mentioned it last night. I was hoping to see an article about it.

SO? Who is playing show and tell? Who on earth developed a new technology and is testing it? There have been similar sightings in Russia, Canada, Mexico... is this the work of the taliban?

I hate to think the alternate ~ visitors leaving after what they saw!

The aussies are pretty active in the hypersonic/trans-atmospheric sector of aero-engineering.

It’s possible that people are seeing parts of black project flight tests of exotic new platforms.

Alice Springs has new funding, as Watertown has become something of a circus...

Do UFOs in the northern hemisphere spiral counter-clockwise then? ;)

Lots of the scramjet research is funded by the Univ. of Queensland —one of the areas where such spottings cluster:

http://www.popsci.com.au/2010/03/aussie-scram-jets-are-go/

The idea is that they need a way of striking at a distant adversary quickly, without access to foreign bases, and without going completely into space —something that would seem like a nuclear ICBM attack (thereby triggering an uncalled-for nuclear “counter” attack).

If such a platform could be made reliable, then this would also bring down the cost of launching ferret satellites 90%, or probably more.

"Geoffrey Whyatt from the Sydney Observatory says it was probably a satellite, space junk or a rocket. The fact that you've got the rotation, the spiral effect, is very reminiscent of the much widely reported sightings from Norway and Russia last year, which both turned out to be a Bulava missile which was being adjusted in its orbit," he said.

"So possibly a rocket, I would say, having some sort of gyroscopic stability rocket fired on its side."
