"The low-hanging fruits approach to one of mankind's great challenges is very appealing because it's win-win," said Jay Fein, program director in NSF's Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences. "It cleans up the environment, protects human health and helps to sustain the 2 C threshold."
The first and second recommended steps in the PNAS paper include stabilizing carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere; and fashioning warming-neutral pollution laws. These laws would balance the removal of aerosols that have an atmospheric cooling effect with the removal of warming agents such as soot and ozone.
Thirdly, the authors advocate achieving immediate cooling through reductions in methane, hydrofluorocarbons and other greenhouse gases that last in the atmosphere for short periods of time.

Are these people on LSD?
I wouldn’t doubt it for one second. On another thread Bill Gates is going to spend 5 billion to spray sea water into the air to create a bunch of clouds.
What does Jay have to say about “balancing” the ash and gases being emitted by the Icelandic volcano? Why is it that this major atmospheric change agent gets no comment from warmers? (That’s a rhetorical question!)
Ping.
By low hanging fruit they must mean gullible politicians.
I... whut the...These people are absolutely, utterly insane in a James Bond super villian only dumb as toast sort of way...
They are trying to create global cooling, which we were told would lead to starvation and a new Ice Age.
The damn scientists are trying to kill us all.
My literary/cultural point of reference is the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. I remember reading this story as a kid and thinking how could people be this stupid. I had to live about 50 years to find out the answer to this question. The author of this story must have been one pretty smart dude.

LIARS ALL!

“The Emperors New Clothes” is a fairy tale because the citizens did not beat senseless the little boy who spoke the truth.
In terms of evolution and adaptation, man’s only real defense was his innate intelligence. I wonder what happens when that defense is gone, because it is clearly gone generally speaking. That intelligence, as well as creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness have been replaced by greed, ignorance, stupidity, and lust for power and control. It’s like we are literally in a Dark Ages.
True dat.
Scary, ain’t it? I guess I blame the pervasive media as much as anything. People think that the media does the pol’s bidding. I tend to think it’s the other way round.
What has objectively changed in my lifetime is the all-pervasive nature of media. It clearly has had a destructive effect beyond measure. It has literally brainwashed a huge chunk of the population.
Maybe there are other reasons for the world collectively going off its rocker, but this seems as good an explanation to me as any.
It is the weakness of all to be subject to being fooled, even the powerful. It is also the weakness of all to perpetuate the myth when it serves their own interest.
