Pay off all debt. Live as cheaply as possible. Earn as little money as possible. Starve the beast.
That's the plan.

A detail from the above link:
Question: How can I join the Amish community and become an Amish person?
Answer: Anyone can live in an Amish community by simply moving to where the Amish live in a specific area. If a person wants to join the Amish church, the person must move to an Amish community, live there for a length of time (which could be years), accepting the Amish and the Amish accepting you (it is really a mutual issue), being willing to live within the rules of the Church (Ordnung). To become a member of the Amish church requires a genuine religious commitment which is much more than just moving to an Amish community and living the Plain lifestyle of not using electricity, cars, telephones, etc. Answer coordinated by THE BUDGET

Mormons are told to have 2 years food supply in case of societal meltdown. Guessing they have the guns to make sure their 2 year supply isn’t robbed by those that didn’t plan ahead?

Farming with horses is very profitable and organic. No fuel bills, they run on hay. The down side is it is a lot harder work.

LOL! Those of us who lean more monotheistic than the Amish could co-opt their label or something. ;-)
...would probably require that I hook little Dutch windmills up to the solar heating system pumps or operate them by hand.

Hmmmmm.......
If memory serves the Amish are a more orthodox division of the Mennonites......
To my knowledge the Mennonites have certain modern appliances such as refrigerators, etc.
So......
Why not style ourselves as "Progressive Amish Mennonites".....
(Heck, the Libs will have to love us simply because we use the word "Progressive")
Additionally, we continue to attend the church of our choice as a part of our "Missionary Outreach Program".
However we refuse govt medical care as it is against out religion.
Anyone think that might work?
