Anybody else have a bar code inside their mailbox?

I've got one of those curbside post mailboxes with two doors--one streetside and one in the rear. I rarely-- if ever-- use the street side door--the one used by the mailman--to retrieve my mail. The other day the mailman and I arrived at the box at the same time. I watched him use a bar code reader and then put my mail in the box. I checked the inside of the street side mailbox door and sure enough--there was a bar code. Here is the info I found on this postal innovation at http://www.usps.com/strategicplanning/cs04/chp2_015.html:

The postal service has been using bar codes for at least a decade to speed up service.

I had one in my box in CA and I asked my mail carrier, a good friend, why it was there. He said so the management can keep track of the efficiency of the carriers.

There’s one of those bar codes on 0bama’s scalp. Saudi Arabia printed it there after they programmed him to destroy the USA.

The USPS is the custodian of Rabinow’s documentation submitted for his 4 basic patents for what has become OCR and Barcode reading technology. Doing a quick search the first patent was granted in 1959.

If we had a bar code, the snow plow has knocked it off and smashed it to smithereens by now. They have knocked down our mailbox three times since Christmas.

My mailman wrote the house number inside with a Sharpie. Should I be concerned?

I find that amusing since they’re un-fire-able, union boys.

The mail carrier usually has 8 or so of these route scan points along his/her delivery route, which all have to be scanned. Management wants to see these uploaded scans in the next day’s reports. A scan tells them where the carrier was and when. If the scan is missed, USPS will want to know why. If the scan is late, USPS will want to know why. If the mail carrier farts, USPS will want to know why. You get the picture...
