A rifle is for longer ranges like 25-500 yards if you just want protection from unrest- I would strongly recommend a Mossberg .410 gauge home defender shotgun with buckshot. It is easy for a woman to handle and is highly effective from 1-25 meters.
I’ve split the difference between a 12 gauge and a 410, by purchasing a 20 gauge Mossberg.
