Simon Cowell's brother: 'Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010'

Simon Cowell’s brother Tony made a bold statement during his weekly podcast, saying that his famed judge sibling will be leaving the U.S.’s biggest television show, American Idol, at the end of 2010. “Meanwhile, Simon prepares for a new season of Idol—or should I say, his last season of Idol,” Tony said during a segment. He continued: “OK, I will. Because it is. As I sit here with my family in the sunny Caribbean, a press statement is being prepared, which will confirm what everyone expected: Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011.”

Rumors about Simon Cowell leaving Idol circulate rather regularly. A press representative for American Idol at Fox said the network had no comment on the statements from Tony Cowell, while an email to Simon Cowell’s personal representative has yet to be returned.

Maybe Congress can prevent him from leaving. After all, if they can lean on the NCAA to have a playoff system in football they can lean on Simon and Fox to continue on American Idol. The Bread and Circuses must flow.

Simon’s Diary

1/1/09

Dear Diary,

This will be my last year of Idol.
First, I’ll get rid of the drunk lady. Then
I’ll hire a lesbian. Then, I’ll leave Randy
with the lesbian. I think I’ll replace myself
with a democrat or communist, but I repeat
myself...

And the denizens of this site should consider this significant because.......?

I know, I know. It teaches us that there is a separate dimension beyond our own, that seems to have a large population. I have seldom visited it.

That show is so boring. Some of the audition stuff at the start is funny, but after that I don’t watch. I won’t watch it at all this year.

The show is also fixed, a lot of time record companies dump artists they signed who didn’t work out on the show in the hope of re-launching their careers.

Remember also that Cowell and the others are not at the original auditions where thousands and thousands attend. They show up later and listen to maybe a few dozen.

Their people purposely find BAD singers and good ones to send to them.

If true, the show crashes and burns in two years.

Its already jumped a couple of sharks, but there is no show without an honest judge.

Same here. My care-o-meter is the same as yours. We might be the only two who haven’t seen it.

because at one time, this show was good family entertainment where talent was rewarded, not sob stories. The same could be said of 'The Gong Show' but the talent is better in Americal Idol.

Of course that's all changed since the show started showcasing homosexuality and last-minute rule changes where no one is eliminated.
