Lately the news has not been good - understatement of the year.
If you can spare two hours to have a "mood enhancing" moviegoing experience - please go see "Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock.
It's based on a true story and is so good, I believe even my liberal loved ones will enjoy it. (Am working to see that they do go see it this week and I will likely go a second time with them).
To me this movie is well worth the admission price.
The story it tells is an awesome one, the acting is exceptional, the lines are - many of them - funny without being idiotic. The "heroine" and her family are Christians and the school involved is a Christian school, both of whom act consistently with their espoused faith/values - for ONCE - in a movie!
I'm sure it will be banned eventually for its many heresies to the liberal/godless worldview ....so see it while you can.....
Well - now I will have to be a Ravens fan!!! (I had not followed this story til now - so he’s a “must follow” player from now on!)
The Blind Side (2009)
What a great movie!
My Ravens still have a shot at the playoffs.
Wow, my mom will ove it then, she adopted me when I was 4 days old:)
Sandra is a very lovely lady.
Please forgive the ping.
Many of you have probably seen “Blind Side”, the movie.
It is excellent, it espouses Christian values, and it is very uplifting in a “down” time.
Hope some who have not seen it but would enjoy such a heartwarming, faith boosting, film based on a true story - will be able to find time to do so over this Christmas season.
If not now - see it when it comes out on video.
But if you could use a “lift” to your spirits - well - this movie may be for you.
It was for me and I am so glad to have seen it today! It came at just the right time....for me. Maybe it will for you too.
(Again, if this is not your cup of tea or if you’ve seen it already - please excuse the ping and have a very Blessed Christmas!)
Glad you agree! Wasn’t it fantastic? I know Christian women like the one portrayed in this movie.....Christian families like the one portrayed here.....but I didn’t know this story.
LOVED IT!
Thank you for being an adoptive parent! What joy this movie must bring to all adoptive parents, to all who have ventured their all for the life of a child...who is not “born” into their family.
And it does so with grace and humor plus seriousness about several issues (we discuss here on FR daily).

Seeing these two movies one day apart was a major juxaposition a clash of what the world can be in two completely different ways.
Precious is a deeply dark and depressing world; a huge, young, black, underaged girl who finds herself pregnant for the second time (!) by her own father, living in a two-story, run-down Section 8 (government) housing project with an incredibly abusive mother (played beyond belief by actress Monique who had better win an Academy Award for this indelible performance). Precious mother is supported by (government) welfare programs; she is enrolled in an undisciplined (government) school in which it would be nothing short of a miracle if any child ended up escaping poverty; her Mongoloid child, a product of an incestuous rape by her father, provides additional (government) support to her mother; her (government) case worker (Mariah Carey) tries to help her as does her alternative (government) school teacher. In the end, the most uplifting scene of the film is HIV-infected Precious walking away with her Mongoloid daughter and new-born son, again both products of incestuous rapes. (Does anyone have Dr. Kervorkians cell number?)
Blind Side, on the other hand, is the story of a huge, young, black, underage boy taken in by a Southern white family (led by matriach Sandra Bullock), who offer him a home outside of his run-down Section 8 (government) housing in an upper-middle class/wealthy home when they find him homeless after hes enrolled on a scholarship in a private (non-government) Christian (!) school where the teachers actually have control of the classes and the students actually learn things! All the advantages given to him are a result of common-sense (non-government) environment where it is expected that individuals are responsible for improving not only themselves but also those of others without being directed to do so by an illustrious leader.
I anticipate a sequel to both, funded with the Stimulus Bill, called, the Precious Blind Side. We will learn that Precious children grow up in Section 8 housing that has been granted more money by the federal government, her run-down school has been granted more money by the federal government for more school assistants, and social services has been granted more money to hire more assistants who are at least equally inept at finding out that Precious children are being brutualized by preverted school teachers who cant be fired because they belong to the teachers union.
Meanwhile, Big Mike in The Blind Side grows up to be a wealthy professional football player who has his taxes increased so much to pay for the above increases in government spending to support Precious world that it prevents him from adopting another unfortunate child from the projects.
4 stars to Precious for acting alone; 4 stars to Blind Side for a dose of alternative reality and common-sense entertainment; and ZERO stars for the upcoming sequel the Precious Blind Side.

Ha! Great photo from the movie!
And, yes, Sandra Bullock is stunningly beautiful in this movie and, as a woman, I have no qualms about saying that. Because she is also one tough, though compassionate, Southern lady!! (and she really is from the South so ....there you go).
Ha! I would not pay a penny to see “Precious”.
But “Blind Side” was worth every bit of the $7.00 admission price - and more!
Thank you for telling us about a movie that just might be
worth watching. I haven’t seen many lately because they have
gotten so coarse and nasty.
Do they? (the Ravens have a shot at a playoff birth?) How is Mike Oher doing so far this year?
chae - I hope your mom - and you - will get to see this movie!

Forgive the ping? I am delighted!
We NEED a lift in CHRISTmas spirits.
I had to have this entire day away from news. I started my day at early Mass. I feel rejuvenated and I think I’ll check to see if the local theater has the movie playing. Fingers crossed.
