LOS ANGELES (Reuters) Los Angeles coroners will perform an autopsy on Monday on actress Brittany Murphy as speculation mounted that anorexia may have played a part in her sudden death one day earlier at age 32.
Police and coroner's officials said no foul play is suspected in the actress's cardiac arrest Sunday morning in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.
Assistant Coroner Ed Winter said initial reports showed the "Clueless" actress's death may have resulted from heart-related causes but said the autopsy would include toxicology tests. Results will not be known for six to eight weeks.
Celebrity website TMZ, which first broke the news, reported there was "a significant amount of vomit" in the bathroom area where Murphy was found unconscious in the shower. TMZ said Murphy was taking medication for 'flu-like symptoms for several days, and there were a lot of prescriptions in the house.
Other news reports focused on Murphy's emaciated appearance in recent weeks. Us Weekly printed a photo on its website of Murphy's last known public appearance on the red carpet at a fashion event in Los Angeles on December 3, which showed the actress in a sleeveless dress with bone thin arms and legs.
People.com quoted one unnamed friend as saying Murphy had "insane self-image issues", and MSNBC.com columnist Courtney Hazlett said some magazines decided against running photos of her in December because she looked sick and "painfully thin".
In 2005, Murphy denied widespread rumors she had an eating disorder and that her weight loss was due to cocaine use.

Can I be the first to say ‘who cares’? Many others died on the same day she did. A movie star you say? So what!
...anorexia or drug abuse can both have a negative impact on the heart and cause dysrhythmias.
Her husband looks like and effing pig sloth. There had to have been some drug issues with the both of them. Anorexia or not, drugs are likely the cause.
Well if she was diabetic as her mom says then coupling that with anorexia you could see why she died so young. I have a friend who is diabetic and she has had three heart attacks, she is just 34, the doctor keeps telling her to stop crash dieting because it is essentially killing her.
Bulimia with electrolyte imbalances disrupts heart rhythms.
Add even recreational drug use (and there are blind items about Murphy that have been ‘out’ for quite awhile) and you have the perfect storm to end a life.
Sad.
We must obsess on this
We cannot help ourselves
It’s our business
We have to know
It’s too important
And we’re not
And nothing else important is going on
While several more of our synapses turn to sawdust
And freedom figures it needn’t hang around if it’s not wanted.
I vaguely remember “Clueless..saw it with my then teen age daughters...but wasn’t the star Alicia Silverstone..if that’s all that Murphy is remembered for...did she ever have anythign remotely resembling a career?
I don’t have the foggiest who she is, nor do I care.
When a REAL ACTRESS and REAL STAR died this week, whose career lasted decades, and whose films are classics, Jennifer Jones. Drudge couldn’t even give her passing a nod, but he has a headline on this no talent chick for two days.
Where’s the CLASS?
If she had flu-like symptoms it is possible that a flu virus triggered the heart attack. I lost an otherwise healthy friend at age 19 that way.
Famous for being famous? Paris Hilton fits that description.
It almost sounds like she had a seizure with the whole vomit thing. Diabetes can cause seizures. Seizures can cause heart problems.
Her film bio on IMDB is pretty extensive.
She’s been in many TV shows. She was also the voice of Luanne on “King of the Hill.” She was in “8 Mile,” “Girl Interrupted,” “Sin City,” and “Just Married.”
Skin thin combined with a few stray pills will not do you well. Maybe this time some of these other hollywood stars will learn something from their actions (accent on some).
I liked her very much in Uptown Girls and Sin City.
"Bah! Humbug!" to you too.
Isn’t it odd that those who say they don’t care still click on the thread to say it? Wouldn’t it be easier just to not click on the thread?
I heard that her heart stopped beating...
