One example is the lame Cold War revisionist history by John Gaddis. he tells all about how Reagan Thatcher and Pope JP II out-maneuvered the Soviets, despite Gorbachev's desire to keep the Evil Empire viable. Then he turns around and gives Gorbachev more credit because he didn't send tanks into Poland, or some such. The fact of course was that Gorbachev was checkmated and had no choice but to acquiesce.

These leftists are such pests, they just never will be fit to live with. They believe that the truth is secondary to the cause, and that is why they must be crushed, eventually, by any means necessary.

You are quite correct that Gorby had his butt kicked. There was no way he could win.

However, I give him enormous credit for the way he lost. He most certainly could have ensured that the Soviet Empire collapsed in blood. In fact, it would have been quite possible for hundreds of million to have died during its fall.

I think sometime few of us really realize what a bullet we dodged there.
