The stereotype of computer scientists as geeks who memorize Star Trek lines and never leave the lab may be driving women away from the field, a new study suggests. So the stereotypes and geeks are to blame for women not entering these jobs.
Doesn't matter. It is a bad investment in a career anyway as jobs are offshored to India and even IBM is encouraging Americans to go abroad where they will work cheaper but "your dollar goes farther there".
Maybe the women need to be more tolerant of diversity.

Can't imagine the net worth of that photo...and the net amount of poly-blend materials.
Wonder how many wedgies have been given out to that crew over the years.

Could also be that CS is mind-numbingly boring and unsatisfying as hell. I endured life as a software engineer for 20 years and recently got laid off in a very typical maneuver by my high-tech employer, who is farming more and more work to India and China.
I'm actually glad to be out of there. Dreadful, utterly meaningless work and a miserable corporate environment. Good riddance.

I wonder if the author is as concerned about the lack of males in education, sociology, and social work?

Come on guyz! Women invented the ENIAC and even programmed it. Men just keep taking all the credit.
