Congress Demands NCAA Football Playoff System
http://www.radioviceonline.com ^ | December 10, 2009 | Steve McGough

With more IMPORTANT issues to be concerned about, Congress WANTS to TELL the NCAA what type of college football bowls to have?

Like they don’t have enough on their plate. Rep Joe Bartson (R-Texas) along with members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee feel the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is unfair and won’t change unless the all-knowing United States Congress pushes them to fix something they know nothing about.

First off let me make this clear. I really don’t give a hoot.

This should not be the concern of congress.

Amen to that. Congress is into too many cookie jars.

“Congress minds its own damn business” just wouldn’t make enough headlines.

I am pro-playoff — but Congress needs to butt out.

PING this one over to you GOP_Raider. One more sign of an out-of-control Congress.

This just shows the influence of television. The advertising dollars have made this non-event one of the more important things in people’s lives for no other reason than that it is on TV. For no other reason than the money that it will generate through TV viewers this is now of importance to the Congress of the United States.

Sorry to disagree, but at this moment I would love Congress to waste their time on this instead of Obamacare, Cap and trade, and all the other nation killing items they are currently working on.

There can’t be a true playoff system for Div I football because not all programs are equal. Notre Dame gets over rated in every pre-season poll and has to lose a bunch of games before getting dropped. BC goes to a bowl every year and isn’t even on the radar till the end of the season. It’s all subjective. Div II teams have parity. Then there’s recruiting. Alabama will bring in five running backs. Two will never touch the ball in a game. BUT, they won’t play for Auburn. A playoff system built from parity will destroy the Hall of Dynasties and the pagentry of college football.

I am by no means a football fan since I was a football widow for a good number of years before I woke from my self-induced trance. However, I think Congress needs to recess immediately if this is the only subject left untouched by their incessant meddling and idiotic laws.

With only 85 Scholarships available, that would be stupid.

It’s right in Article II of the Constitution:
“Congress shall make everyone play fair.”

“They should just close Congress.....what is the point if this is all they do?”

I agree. In an ideal world, we should just close Congress, and send all 600 or so members, along with the Obama Administration and the Supreme court, on a permanent vacation to Copenhagen. Here, they can keep street walkers off the streets and in hotel rooms or the back seats of limousines, courtesy the U.S. taxpayer.

But this is not an ideal world. The Copenhagen option would cause a backlash from hard pressed taxpayers and outraged global warming deniers. But the fact remains that if we don’t keep Congress, the Obama Administration, and the Supreme court busily with something totally useless, they will continue to wreck any future our children and grandchildren might have, by fooling around with the economy and health care, and taking our public school children to Greyhound bus station men’s rooms for sex education.

I it is vital that all the resources of our government drop anything of any consequence and and devote all their resources to straightening out the corrupt, greedy, racist, sexist, mean spirited Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Our survival depends on it.

Congress is not competent enough to blow its’ collective nose, they should keep said nose out of the affairs of these state and private institutions.

This is a great idea!

I've never thought the NFL draft is fair. Shouldn't Congress make the picks and distribute the talent?

It's hard to get into Harvard. Why not allow Congress to make the hard decisions for them? (Well, OK. AA sort of does that already...)

How about letting Congress pick the 65 teams for March Madness?

In fact, maybe Congress can pick the top 25 for football and basketball every week.

Golly, maybe they can spend my money for me in a wise and prudent manner and relieve me of that burden.
